This is a no nonsense place. Less salt. Checked. Hugh portion. Checked. Awful neighborhood. Checked. Family owned. There's a lot of food. After getting the lettuce and tomato salad and soup, I'm pretty much full. Two pieces of sourdough bread. Friday's soup is a big bowl of clam chowder. This place is amazing. For the same price as a meal at McDonald's, you can get a four course meal. I don't know how they do it; it's truly an impressive value. Dinners consist of a salad, a soup, fresh sourdough bread, the entrée with likely a side of corn and mashed potatoes, and then finally, if you are lucky, Jell-O dessert. I have been going to Lafayette for approx. 10 years. Since the closing of Manor House Restaurant.It's got the best prices in S.F. Selections are great for breakfast. Also serves lunch and dinner. I believe they are open 6 days a week and closed on Saturdays.
