Great service, rolls made on spot, instant endless choices. Recommend to sit at bar, but you can always order favorite rolls or walk to go up to the bar

10 years after my original review and wanted to reiterate how fantastic the food and service continues to be at Warakubune. Their innovative approach to rolls, amazing quality/freshness and fantastic restaurant environment continues to make this an awesome date and family spot!

I really enjoyed the sushi belt conveyor boats. It was nice to watch. We went on a rainy Friday night ~7PM and waited 10 minutes for a party of 2 before being seated. Since there's only one circular conveyor belt, everyone was packed around it. You're almost shoulder to shoulder the person beside you. It was well priced and the sushi was overall good. The rice was a bit dry, but the sushi just goes around and around exposed to air so makes sense. The rolls we tried, best on top: 1. salmon scallion maki 2. salmon nigiri 3. california roll 4. salsa salmon roll 5. avocado tempura roll (too much going on) 6. crab nigiri - crab was too salty 7. octopus/squid dish

SO GOOD. Excellent sushi for a great price. Walked in on a Wednesday evening. We had to wait a bit for a spot, but were seated within five minutes. The staff is so efficient and so sweet! The sushi boats are so cute and the selection is fabulous. If you want something in particular, it is available to order. 100% worth a stop!

Best sushi boat in town! The sushi is high quality and fresh. The eel nigiri and dragon rolls are amongst the best I've had in SF! It's a must

One of the rare boat places still around SF, also fresh since they get very busy everyday. Staff are very warm with us, know what we like and are super friendly with my 8 year.Kid-friendliness: My daughter has been going here since she was 3, she fell in love with Sushi here and loves the boats and staff

The sushi was fresh and delicious. I love sushi boats or conveyors because you don't have to wait. The service was great. I always return to restaurants that take pride in a clean restroom. I'll be back.

12/10 absolutely a must go when in the city Wednesday-Sunday. So fresh and so delicious, they are efficient, kind, and personable.

Since I wrote the above review, they've changed a lot. Notably they've revamped the menu and shrunk down the variety of sushi offerings a lot, and while that might be a downside, I'm suspecting that's why they've also had a significant increase in quality and consistency. Still not a top tier conveyor belt sushi place, but they are much more on top of things now and I've appreciated having them around when I'm in the neighborhood.

So Excellent ~ in all our travels, this is some of the best sushi we have ever enjoyed and actually find ourselves craving for days after indulging ! From the warm genuine welcome to the sweet round-a-bout of sushi boats to the delectable treasure that each of these little vessels carry past you of you're not fast enough to grab it before your nieghbor does, this is an experience and a perfectly crafted meal you will not soon forget. Warakabune Rocks !!! Sooooooo Delish !!!

This is what a neighborhood sushi spot should be. High quality plates, good portion sizes, and a fabulous selection. The house special shrimp tempura roll is a can’t miss. The white tuna tataki is heavenly. Note; the spicy tuna is spicier than you might expect.Great for families early in dinner service (they love kids!), great to come bring a book and eat by yourself later in the evening. It’s easy to make conversation with those around you. I’ll often make sure to bring visitors here, and very often I’ll find myself near people who moved away and specifically came back to eat here when visiting. For those saying prices are a turn off, it’s less risky to take a $6 3-piece roll here and decide you don’t like it than an 8-piece roll for $18 at other sushi spots. You can just try the next thing you see that you want!

Calling this place conveyer belt sushi is just so inept. Yes, it has a "water-powered" sushi boat conveyance, no belt. But it's also all handmade right in front of you. We have been regulars there ever since we moved to the neighborhood in 2011, and have remained consistent visitors even after we moved away 7 years ago. Every time we come in the staff and I believe the owner (who is one of the sushi masters in the middle of the boat section) great us and ask us how we're doing, even these days when we only make it in every couple of months visiting from SoCal (meh). Our go to dish always: the spicy whiterish... comes sashimi style covered in miso ginger sauce and spicy mayo, with a tiny side salad of seaweed and green onions on top + a few cherry tomatoes thrown in for good measure. Love the vibe, it's small and absolutely feels like a local spot. Pro-tip: DON'T BRING YOUR CHILDREN, not only is it not a great spot for them, it's not fair to others when your child starts grabbing roles he then puts back... I've seen it. Also, not recommended for large groups 2-4 max if you want to sit around the boat section. Larger parties though they do have back seating to accommodate. I love this place and will keep going until I can't anymore because it's gone or I am. Pics to come when I visit tonight!
