Decent portion size, affordable, tasty. I routinely eat their food. Not crazy about their chile rellano and their salsa is inconsistent week to week. But obviously that's not keeping me away! Small business, so the owners are very friendly.
I read one review here with a person saying the food here was tasteless. They are probably used to the overly salty Burrito Factory stuff. The Chile Verde here at Playitas is amazing. I have lived in San Jose since the 70's and grandmas ChilI Verde here is the best. But i like everything on the menu. Not many traditional small mexican resteraunts left in San Jose anymore. There used be so many everywhere.

The best authentic Mexican restaurant in the area! I have been coming here for decades. Abuelita makes all the sauces, beans and rice every morning by hand. Not to mention their chips and salsa are endless and fresh made daily. They offer specialties like chicken mole which are not often available at other places.
