Good sports bar vibe with plenty of tvs to enjoy. The food is absolutely amazing. 100s of good beers and drinks to choose from. Game days get loud with plenty of entertainment and fun. Service was all around good. Huge space. Clean bathrooms.

Mexico/s.Korea World Cup match ,,,,, fear amount of people ,,, not totally 100% ,,, meat ball was
fantastic , fish tacos really good, fry calamari good, and then the nachos , me and my son we are meat lovers and ones she offered STEAK on top of the nachos my son screamed YEEEEEEEEHA ,, so I say of course add the steak on top of the nacho ,,,, guys ( Rookies sport ) that meat is not STEAK , that meat is ground beef with no flavor at all ,,,, and I wish a could have more beer but I was only served 3 in 3 hours because she ( our attendance ) always says the bar is so busy , limes and salt never arrives ,,, my wife margarita was amazing ,,, overall only the nachos was disappointed and the wait time for the drinks ,, other Thant that ,,,👍🏼

I mean they charged $10 for UFC Whitehouse card and I had to be in front of a 100 inch projector screen that was off. I was crazy hyped for card to watch it on a screen smaller then my living room screen.

Came in and waited 20 minutes for a table for 2. A party of 4 came in after us and got seated immediately. Staff was super dismissive especially the hostess at the front.

Great place to watch a game or match with friends! Conveniently located in downtown san jose, you can take public transportation to get here. The nachos were some of the biggest and best that I've had. I will definitely be coming again.

Only giving it three stars bc of the original barkeeper I had was rounding the bar and doing her job (Jewel i think she said). After she left i watched patrons come to the bar and sit, and then leave after 5-10 min of no one attending to them. Mind you. Maybe 5 people at the bar. I asked for my tab. The bartender acknowledged I asked for my tab (again less than 5 people at the bar), and he disappeared. Had to re ask bar back for my tab. Who had to wait for the male bartender to come back. I got my tab. $48. 2 pilsners, a shot of jameo and their meatball’s.

Do what you want with this info. But if you’re not a buddy of the bar. Don’t expect service.

Have been to rookies 3-4 times over the past year, usually the day after a sharks game for some brunch nachos.

Writing a review today for the service from River. Engaging and personable, attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks and menu. She’s a Colts fan but born and raised Bay Area. Ask her why!!

Nachos are fire. They are gigantic. Don’t be a hero, it’s difficult to finish them between 2-3 people.

Ridiculous nachos that could feed 5 people, 4 IPA’s between the gentleman and I, 75$. Reasonable price considering the service and the truckload of food for one entree.

Thanks for another good Sunday brunch rookies, and thank you again River! Made our day today!!🤗

I've been coming to Rookies for a long time (10 years?), but after my most recent visit, I'm done--and people should know why.

During a major championship game, the place was packed with customers all watching the same broadcast. Out of nowhere, multiple TVs suddenly changed to different channels. The entire section was confused and frustrated, and none of the on-site staff had the ability--or permission--to fix it. They all said only the manager or owner could change the TVs, and neither was anywhere to be found.

Nearly an hour later, someone finally showed up claiming to be the owner. Another customer and I--who weren't even together--both tried politely asking what was going on and why the on-site staff weren't allowed to manage something as basic as the TVs during a live sporting event.

His response?
Mocking, rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.

He contradicted his own employees, insisted they could change the TVs (they clearly couldn't), and seemed more interested in arguing with paying customers than understanding why half the bar was unhappy.

When I finally told him that this kind of treatment made me not want to come back, he literally mocked me for saying so.
At a place named Rookies, it's pretty ironic that the owner behaves like... well, a rookie.I CAN NOT BELOVE THE OWNER OF THIS OLACE STARTER MOCKING ME BEING UPSET

I've been a semi-regular here for years, but this experience made one thing clear: the staff are trying, but the leadership isn't. If this is how the owner treats customers, I'd recommend going anywhere else.

We waited for over 45 minutes to have our food delivered to us. We asked for an appetizer and it came at the same time with the food. The fries were cold for being our first time here. Not a good experience at all. I would never recommend friends to come here.

I won't eat here again. We were part of a large group that came before the san jose football game. They took our order, then almost i hr later, we still don't have our food. We ask them about it and they said it showed it was brought out. Then they said the printer broke and the kitchen didnt get the order. So out of 30 people, 2 of us sat waiting, and nothing. Then the waitresses had the nerve to roll their eyes at us when they brought it out right as we were leaving and we refused it. They offered to give it to us, but we refused it. I won't give them my business again.

Even when everyone is there to watch sports in the middle of the day, they have bass pounding you like you’re in a club. Incredibly annoying and pointless.

Showed up with normal expectations. Good food good service. Drinks: shots were just a bit short of normal expectations. Beer was.. well beer. Bartender was as expected for service would only check on you if you waved them down. Food order was to go showed up on a plate so had to send it back so I could take it to go. The order was missing the garlic bread I was presented when it arrived before boxing to go. Also missing utensils. Even walking into my hotel lobby they knew I would be missing the utensils and provided it to me. Over All being nice I give it a 4. Realistic should be pushing a 3-3.5.

The service here was terrible. I went there to watch the games and it was not crowded. My friend and I sat at the bar. The bartender was largely on his phone and very not attentive. It took a while to even order our first round of drinks. Several times he left the bar area completely and at one point was just hanging out talking to the servers with his back to the bar. He never asked if we wanted anything else when my friend and I were close to done our drinks. At the end, we were trying to leave and he was no where to be found to close our tab so I had to go ask several other people to close it. The nachos are great and I would highly recommend getting them. Save yourself the hassle and just get take out.
