We use to visit this restaurant more often. Friends would share the 7 course beef and we would order a fried fish. This time it was ok, 3.5 for most of the meal. The skewered pork, kho catfish, garlic noodle was on the sweet side. The lemongrass chicken was spicy. The sour soup could have been a bit more sour. I would have preferred the egg rolls to be crispier. Service was nice amd fast.

Very comfortable atmosphere and nice staff, but the food was pretty much just alright (at least in the case of our order). I went for the Cá Kho Tộ catfish, and it was alright in flavor, but very bony. My friend got the Bánh Xèo Saigon crepe and it was an odd combo of sweet flavor with a shrimp and pork filling; wasn't sure what to make of it. Eggrolls are good though.

Saturday, 1/20/2024 - Ate at Saigon Kitchen. Address is 1111 Story Rd, Ste 1005, San Jose, CA 95109 (East San Jose). It's located in the Asian plaza. There a little mall here. Plenty of free parking.Pros1) nice staffs2) has table covers. Clean.3) they provide each of us two paper napkins.4) foods are good. We got the medium fried catfish spring roll dish for $60. The escargot soup dish for $22. Kids pho for $14. Tea for 4 people for $10.00.5) clean bathroom.6) there's a fireplace in the middle of restaurant.7) they were very quick to process our tab when we got to the cashier counter.Cons1) our waiter never check in on us. Several times we needed extra items and had to keep looking for a server. Any server. We needed the condiment for the pho, there was none on the table. We needed an extra plate to eat the cat fish, we had to look for a server for help.2) they only provided a little cup with Sriracha sauce and oyster sauce. That was it.3) after we ate, they never brought the tab to us. We had to look for someone to ask for it.4) we had to ask someone for a to-go box to box our cat fish and sides home.ConclusionFried cat fish was good. I like the spring roll items and sauce that goes with it. Escargot soupy dish was good. But.... they don't check in on you. At all. You have to look for the server if you need anything. They don't have any pho condiments like how we're use to in Sacramento and Fresno. This place was just okay. Meh. But good. Not bad.

Please take the vermicelli with tofu and shrimp paste off the menu. The meat is dry, cold, cut too thick and smelly. The noodles are dry and cold. For tofu, use fried soft tofu???And remove the shrimp paste and peanuts to create a dish called vermicelli with tofu and shrimp paste???????? The shrimp paste was also cold and thick. Please, if you sell it, sell it properly; Otherwise, focus on other things.Service is quite ok, gentle.

Heard their catfish was supreme, so that was our main reason for coming. Well, it was just ok. Needs more seasoning/salt. It’s beautiful though. However, two other dishes were very good. The first was a fried tofu appetizer. Perfectly fried with slightly crispy outside and soft inside. And yummy. The other is the garlic noodles with cubed beef. A little sweeter than I prefer but mouth watering. The crab and lobster fried rice was so so.

Everything is delicious and fresh! The spicy sweet escargots are very flavorful. The lotus leaf wrapped rice is delicious and unique. Salad is refreshing. Tofu is silky!

Food was mediocre at best. Everything was way too salty, way too sweet, or way too sweet and salty. One dish was too salty to the point of being inedible. In addition to the mediocre food, the service was also not that much better. We ordered a drinks for the kids and asked for hot sauce. 40 minutes into our meal and asking the waiter 4 times we finally told them the 5th time they came we asked to cancel it and that is when they came with it saying we couldn’t cancel it at that point. The kids were done and we had to pay for the drinks the kids didn’t even drink. Looking at the lemonade, there was 1/2 inch of sugar on the bottom of each of the cups. The hot sauce never came.Overall, there is nothing I’d come back for. Between the food and the service, it’s a dud.

Went for lunch with several schoolmates. During lunch hours, the place is not crowded. The restaurant is best known for its grilled catfish - we did order this special dish, just that we forgot to take a picture to post. The server mentioned that grilled catfish dish took the chef half an hour to prepare.

The grilled catfish was in all the reviews so we had to try it. It was cooked perfectly, tender on the inside and super crispy on the outside. It tasted plain without the sauces though. The veggie and herb plate that came with it were plentiful and fresh ?The beef 3 ways was yummy, especially the one wrapped in a leaf. They also have a kids menu with American food items on it like chicken strips and fries.

Came here for some Banh Canh on a friend's recommendation, and tried the fried crab salad. Both were honestly amazing. The atmosphere was that of a nice quiet peaceful place even during lunch. Servers were extremely attentive refilling my water 3-4 times and even provided extra napkins without me asking once I used my one provided one. This restaurant really is the holy grail of high end Vietnamese dinning. Their use of crab, and lobster across their menu shows a deep understanding of Vietnamese seafood cuisine. They don't just throw it in there to up the price. They throw it in there to add flavor and provide a unique experience. The banh canh I had here was like no other in San Jose. Extremely flavorful, savory while being lightly sweet with perfect hints of lobster seething through every spoon. The crab salad was really rich in flavor and had a unique texture. they battered and deep fried a shredded up soft shell crab and served it along side a combination of Papaya, mango, crunchy kelp noodles and other greens for a combination of sweet, savory, and crunchy goodness. Highly recommend coming here.Kid-friendliness: Foods so good if you stuff it in your kids mouth they'll shut up.Parking: It's inside a mall so there's a lot of parkingWheelchair accessibility: Very roomy restaurant and they're more than happy to make accommodations. Came in with a broken leg and they helped me.
