I am a full-blown Jamaican, and I can say without a doubt that Spicy Roy's Caribbean Grill carries authentic Jamaica flavours in their menu items. I sampled several items, including their rice and beans, Jerked Chicken and Oxtails and salad meal; a beef patty; Jerked Chicken Quesadilla; coconut custard cake, and sorrel. I was pleased to have very fresh vegetables for my salad, accompanied by a unique house-made salad dressing, and my proteins had their sauces, ranging from sweet to very spicy.
I left the restaurant with a taste of home and a wish that he'd open up a location in the Midwest so I can have better tasting Jamaican food near me. I was also impressed by the overall attempt to diversity the food to infuse Mexican cuisine into our Jamaican favourites.
Lastly, I was impressed by the Jamaican excellence that greeted me even before getting to the restaurant, in that there's an app that that gives all the info that you need about the restaurant, dishes, owner, menu item supply (which indicates what menu items are not available, so won't hear the popular Jamaican restaurant line, that "we nuh have dat!" AFTER ordering).
My Jamaican heart, spirit and taste buds are so happy and impressed right now that I had to run to write this review.
If you are in San Jose and like good Jamaican food, do yourself a favour and check out Spicy Roy's Caribbean Grill. You won't be disappointed!

I wanted to enjoy my meal at Spicy Roy’s but it fell very flat. The jerk chicken was dry and overcooked. Even the oxtail was a bit dry and it’s pretty tough to overcook oxtail. It seemed like the food had been sitting out for a while. I don’t recommend eating here. Sorry to say because I love supporting small businesses, but I don’t want the good reviews to fool anyone else.

Spicy Roy's has such an authentic & delicious menu! We worked with them to cater an event and all of our guests were over the moon! The quality of the food was impeccable, flavors were unreal & the overall service was so amazing. Can't wait to eat here again & work with them in the future for more catering! Absolutely sensational food! The jerk chicken and yellow tofu curry were amazing and packed with flavor. The plantains were perfectly cooked and the house salad with tropical dressing was fresh and delightful.The service was top-notch; Chef Roy and Kevin are a fantastic team, very professional, friendly, and easy to work with. They made our Mardi Gras-themed Happy Hour event a huge success.We will definitely be reaching out to Spicy Roy's Grill for our future events. Highly recommended!

Food only review because they cater to my company. The jerk chicken is dry and absolutely disgusting. Fried plantains taste like oil and nothing else—and are unripe.Subpar rice. Everything else tastes like it’s a day old. I wouldn’t pay for this.
Purchase the surprise bag from too good to go. What I got was 6 meatballs for $6, $1 per meatball. Are you kidding??Do not buy things from this store. Very dishonest and bad food. Play trick and try to fool customers.
