Talab Reviews
I was pleasantly surprised to learn of An Indian Bengali Restaurant in The Bay Area offering Authentic Bengali Cuisine. I have to come here more to check out many of their menu offerings!
Talab is a hidden gem for authentic Bengali cuisine, tucked away in a quiet corner that you might easily miss if you aren't looking for it. Despite the Urdu name suggesting Mughlai or Awadhi options, the menu leans heavily and expertly into traditional Bengali dishes. The space is clean with ample seating for a midday meal, though they are currently reworking their menu, meaning a few items may be temporarily unavailable.

Great food, good ambience and friendly staff and service. Ordered Awadh Gosht, Biryani, kadhi, chole and cutlets. Gosht was my favorite very flavorful, biryani had mild and flavorful, kadhi was also pretty good. Desserts loved the rasgulla, Sandesh, mishi dhoi was nice too but bit too sweet for my taste. Overall very enjoyable dinning experience, highly recommend

Talab is a Bengali-owned restaurant located in the River Oaks Plaza, near Chase Bank, Starbucks, and a newly opened Indian grocery store. It offers a variety of Indian cuisine, including Kolkata rolls, luchi, Bengali biryani, and Gur Sandesh. The restaurant is known for its flavorful and spicy dishes, such as the Dum Aloo and Chicken in Green Sauce, which contains cashews. Customers have praised the Awadhi mutton and Old Delhi butter chicken, highlighting them as personal favorites and treats for the soul. The service is excellent, with many noting the top-notch experience. The interior of the restaurant is charming and chic, and there is ample parking and outdoor seating available. However, the to-go packaging for a full-size portion of the Dum Aloo leaked in the car due to excess oil and low-quality packaging material, suggesting that using plastic to-go containers like other Indian or Thai restaurants would be better. Talab is also recommended for its refreshing mocktails, which are unique to the restaurant. Overall, Talab is a hidden gem that provides a unique and delicious dining experience, offering a mix of North Indian and Bengali dishes that cannot be found easily in the Bay Area.
