About The Grill on the Alley

The Grill on the Alley is known for its decent food and quality, but recent changes have affected its standards. The menu now features Japanese and Okinawan influences, which some may enjoy, but others might not prefer. Despite these issues, the service remains attentive and friendly. The restaurant still offers a good steak, but the side dishes are unconventional and may not appeal to traditional steakhouse fans. The food is generally excellent, with most dishes like bread rolls, soup, salads, lamb chops, salmon, steaks, and crab fried rice praised by diners. Cocktails are freshly made, with creative variations such as the White Negroni with Bergamot bitters. Parking can be challenging during events, but the restaurant is ADA compliant and easily accessible. With new ownership on the horizon, it remains uncertain if The Grill on the Alley will regain its former glory.

The filet mignon was very tender, and the lobster tail was marinated quite a unique flavor. The prawn cocktail and lobster bisque were also very delicious.
The server who served our table was pretty and welcoming, and the food was served quickly. It's perfect for a family dinner or a date.

Amazing place! Great service. Outstanding food!

The San Jose core has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to fine dining, and this longtime area staple is at the top of the list. Guests of the Signia hotel will be eating great without even needing to set foot outside, with a swanky lounge and toney dining room to choose from in addition to an encircled patio with a great view of the park. This is real-deal steakhouse fare (upscale seafood included), with a winelist and bartending to match. The wagyuu zabuton steak was...read full review
