Thanks to January Restaurant Month, we were able to try out this neighborhood winery in SLO. The wines were great and the service was excellent. Give them a try!
The vibe at El Lugar is spectacular. It’s a really nice place to go wine tasting if you’re into pinot noir, and Mike (who is usually pouring there) is the absolute best!

El Lugar Wines is a hidden gem in San Luis Obispo, known for its outstanding Pinots and Syrah. The small winery has impressed visitors with its excellent wines, created by winemaker Coby. The tasting room, located in a warehouse complex, houses a small winery operation producing top-quality coastal single vineyard juice. The Spanish Springs and Bien Nacido wines are bright, fruity, and silky, with hints of berries, floral notes, and spice.
Founded in 2013, El Lugar offers a variety of vineyard designate Pinot Noir's, a Pinot Noir Blanc, Rosé of Pinot Noir, and a Syrah. The winery is set to open a new tasting room soon, making it easier for wine enthusiasts to enjoy and join their wine club.
Visitors describe the vibe at El Lugar as spectacular, with the staff, particularly Mike, providing an exceptional tasting experience. The winemaker's artful skill shines through in the wines, especially the Pinot Noir from Bien Nacido and Bassi Vineyard, which have been praised for their quality and complexity.
