Need a perfect spot to chill x coffee? Cielo is the place. It's a new and spacious coffee shop in the heart of San Marino. Its Latin inspired menu and perfectly brewed coffee drinks makes it a good addition to the neighborhood. Similarly, they offer wine and beer for customers. And a free wifi.
The UNIT B's former two vendors were also coffee business shops - sadly they didn't last that long. Hopefully with Cielo would last longer. I came early Sunday morning to try their breakfast: chicken pesto sandwich and cafe de olla. Food was good and coffee was perfectly brewed. Prices seem fair. Staff was professional. Service was on point. Street parking and a rear parking lot are available.
Overall, it a chill coffee shop.

I’m going to have to echo the other reviews below. While food is great and the space is a nice place to hangout, there is a worker named Lahnie (sp!) who was the rudest woman I’ve ever met. She should NOT be working in customer service. She was unhappy with a situation with me and gave me the middle finger!!

Went in @ 5:40 and was refused service because they close @ 6. I just wanted a drink. Very bad service
We went in on Friday 7/26
We had actually gone to get pizza nextdoor, my husband went in because we saw your sign mentioned drinks and went on your website and saw you had some interesting choices. He literally walked In @ 5:40 on the dot and was immediately greeted with "kitchen is closed" he said I wanted a drink and was told "we aren't selling them right now" followed by "okk, bye..... "he didn't catch her name. He was thrown back on how rude she was to him. We sat outside to eat our pizza and saw an older man come in 5 minutes later and he also, seemingly, was refused service. He went to the counter and after a short convo left with nothing. Store was officially "closed" @ 5:58. A family came was about to walk in and when they tried to open the door staff completely ignored them.
I use to be a waitress and kitchen wasn't closed until the very minute we were suppose to be closed which was 10pm. If someone came in @ 9:59 we would take them and clean around them while they ate, until they left.
This would have been our 1st time at the restaurant and the menu looked interesting, but what a turn off

Much needed addition to this neighborhood. Good sandwiches and tacos - you can really taste how good bread is.
The steak was overcooked to the point of being almost inedible. Shrimp was dry and flavorless. The salads were hilariously bad.

Very nice place, but service is really bad. Employees prefer to talk amongst themselves than to take care of the customer. I can’t tell you what the food tastes like cause I couldn’t try it. DO NOT CAME HERE.

I got the breakfast burrito, with chorizo instead of bacon, and it was SO delicious. The portion was ample, and it looked as good as it tasted. There was a enough food to split with a friend and have a lighter breakfast.I love a good breakfast burrito, and this is my favorite one as of today. Worth every penny of the $14 I paid. This is my first time here, and I don’t understand the negative comments some people gave. The service was polite and quick. The nice lady who took my order ever cracked a joke which made me smile. Maybe we get back the energy we are putting out?
Vegetarian options: This is such an odd question. I eat meat. And every vegetarian I know has wildly different versions of the veg-diet from each other. Most of them have rather confusing exceptions in their definitions! Like the supposedly strict vegan couple I know, who on Christmas Eve ordered a seafood pasta, and a whole branzino (that’s delivered with fish head and scales still on it when presented at the table). If you can read an online menu, you can decide from home if it’s veg enough for you. Right?!

Such an unfortunate experience. I walked into Cielo around 3:20pm and placed an order shortly after and received our drinks around 3:30pm. The cashier says, “Our kitchen is closed so you can’t order food.” My friend and I just order coffees thinking ok.. maybe something’s wrong with the kitchen so we can’t order any food. We walk over to the seating area when we noticed a worker quickly stacking chairs and pulling them to the side as if she was about to mop. I asked if they are closing soon and she abruptly states, “We close at 3. It’s just to go orders.” She is stating this while there are about 12 patrons sittings at other tables.. sitting there peacefully without any worker telling them they are already closed. There was no patron hastily finishing up their food/coffees or packing up their computers. According to Google and Yelp, Cielo doesn’t close until 8 on Saturdays. If they closed at 3pm and we walked in at 3:20pm, why didn’t a worker kindly apologize and explain they were closed? Why didn’t the cashier say, “We actually closed at 3. We will be open again on xyz date.” Or even “The kitchen is closed and we are only taking to go coffee orders.” I would’ve asked for a refund if the cashier hadn’t started making our coffees yet.The hours on Google and Yelp are misleading… the information the workers are giving is misleading. I haven’t even tried their coffee as the sheer experience has left an awfully bitter taste in my mouth.

My experience at Cielo on San Marino was disappointing. While the breakfast burrito was okay, it fell short in several areas. The bacon was overcooked to the point of being hard to eat, and there was an overwhelming amount of cheese that overpowered the entire dish. The only saving grace was the perfectly cooked eggs. However, the service was the biggest letdown. The staff, particularly the lady serving, lacked basic courtesy and customer service. She didn't greet us and seemed disinterested, giving the impression that she was only there for the paycheck. Overall, while the food had its moments, the poor service significantly detracted from the dining experience.
