El Cuscatlán offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of Salvadoran cuisine, featuring a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhances the authentic dining experience. The spicy margarita remains a highlight, expertly crafted and regarded as one of the best. The food is delicious, with vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients that showcase the richness of Salvadoran cooking. The Surf & Turf (Mar y Tierra) is a standout dish, served with generous portions of steak, spicy chimichurri, huge prawns, beans, rice, salad, and handmade tortillas. The restaurant can get packed on weekends, but many find it worth the wait. While some service issues have been noted, the commitment to authenticity and quality makes El Cuscatlán a hidden gem in the East Bay, bringing the soul of El Salvador to the community. Overall, El Cuscatlán is a must-visit for fans of Central American cuisine or those trying it for the first time, and it is also known for being kid-friendly, making it a favorite for families. Vegetarian options are available, including a highly praised hot soup.
