Customer service is very terrible. We go because family wants to go and haven’t been there yet. But for all 4 times terrible waiter and manager. Once, they only came to ask for drinks never came to take our food order. The other 3 times, group or 6-12 people, I had to ask for them to bring us boxed, bags for our food to go, and ask for our bill. Never checked in to see how things were doing. Muy mal servicio, no nos dejaron entrar por un pantalón de tela solo porque estaba flojo y dejaron entrar a más personas con tenis y con Pantalón Jean, fuimos discriminados y nos trataron mal. Siendo clientes de ellos desde hace 5 años y cambiaron reglas según ellos y la nueva guardia los seguirá haciendo perdiendo clientes.

Based on the reviews, El Cuscatlan serves fantastic Salvadoran comfort food and some of the best Latin food in the East Bay. The pupusas are spot-on, and the Surf & Turf (Mar y Tierra) comes with generous portions of steak, spicy chimichurri, and huge prawns. The aguas frescas hit the sweet spot, though some say the drinks are better than the food. The staff is friendly and helpful, but service slows when it gets busy. The place is not elegant and can feel cramped, needing some cleaning up and repairs, especially in the bathroom. The food can get packed on Fridays and Saturdays, but it is worth the wait. However, one reviewer found the rice salty and felt disrespected by a waiter, with no manager response.
