Excellent!!
We were there on an evening where they had more customers than they could deal with due to their process of ramping up staff after being closed for sometime due to a lost liquor license, now restored. In spite of this, they were very gracious, and the food was outstanding. Fortunately, our patience paid off.
It was the first time my husband and I ate at Louie's and it didn't disappoint. Amazing tomato and gorgonzola salad to start. My husband had chicken piccata and I had the salmon. The salmon was grilled to perfection. My husband's chicken piccata was accompanied by angel hair pasta. He gave it a big thumb's up! Louie's is in the Upham bed and breakfast and close to downtown Santa Barbara but far enough away to easily find parking. We will be back!
Louie's California Bistro, located in The Upham House, is a popular dining destination. The restaurant offers an exquisite menu with dishes such as mahi-mahi, beef stroganoff, chicken piccata, and rack of lamb. Standout dishes include a perfectly cooked mahi-mahi with remarkable risotto, and a flavorful chicken piccata. Appetizers like the crab wonton with artichoke and sun-dried tomato are also highly recommended. Diners can enjoy their meal in a pleasant atmosphere with great service. The same chef has been working there for 25+ yrs. The food was perfect and flavorful, honestly one of the best salmon dishes. A caesar salad was shared and plated separately. For a sweet finish, don't miss out on the delectable coffee gelato, and a piece of key lime to go. Service was extremely attentive. Louie's is in the Upham bed and breakfast and close to downtown Santa Barbara but far enough away to easily find parking. They're open for dinner and resv are recommended. They enjoyed indoor dining however the large porch is comfortable and inviting.
