Good surprise. Didn't expect decent quality bite size sushi in this price point. Their rice is on point. I enjoyed spicy tuna, yellowtail crispy rice.

I regularly stop grabbing some food in this spot. I loved the swift service and well made food. Fantastic work.

I ordered right now and never again. It was a messy inside the box and came missing an item, I’m very frustrated.

My first time here the food is pretty good! Had the Bento box but the photo is definitely misleading. It shows it coming with four items in every photo, when I just ordered it on Postmates it only let me put three items in the box so I figured I would have a salad in the fourth box but it was just soy sauce and ginger.

This place is located inside a food court in the 3rd Street Promenade. I had stopped at the food court to get some lunch and there's many other restaurants available. The item that got my attention here was you can build your own bento box. The place was clean and there are several counters with stools where you can enjoy your food. The bento box comes with rice, sushi rolls, veggies or soup, and salad. There are different food items under each category that you can choose. I ordered the pork belly rice, california rolls, miso soup, and mixed green salad. The food did take a while to be ready, but you can see the cook preparing it. He did take time to prepare it to make it just right. The taste and quantity were worth it. The miso soup was hot and the mixed green salad had light dressing on it. The pork belly rice wasn't salty and the California rolls tasted fresh not mushy. I was impressed by the concept of this restaurant and I wish there were more locations available.

I work a few doors down and I keep trying it hoping it would be better each time. It takes a while even if there's no one in line even tho they have a machine to roll the sushi. I couldn't tell if the rice was undercooked or old and crunchy. I couldn't finish it. I was grossed out with having to spit out bits of hard rice in a spicy tuna roll. Their saving grace is the rock shrimp. Tho it was good l, I doubt I'd go there just for that

This place is located on the Third Street Promenade in a good court with so many great choices, perfect for bringing a group of friends because there's something for everybody! I love this idea of build your own bento box -- it's fun and delicious. The staff is also super nice; Amy made my plate beautifully and made me smile while doing it! Much appreciated.

The Concept seems great, who doesn't love a bento box. Ordering was WAY too difficult. The checkout lady was incredibly unhelpful, to the point of seeming like i was being pranked. Then the person preparing my food drops the bento box and picks up the food with his gloved hands. with those SAME GLOVES that touched the floor, he makes me another bento box and the subsequent customers in line. The food I did manage to eat was awful, how do you mess up miso soup? I liked the beer tap thing, but that's part of the food hall.

Not bad. It's a slight upgrade from college cafeteria sushi (if there is such a thing). They do get an extra half point for creativity on their crispy rice spicy tuna roll, which I describe as the sushi attempt at cronuts (just go with me on that). I do like the whole mini-food court set up, which is a nice addition to the promenade. Price is decent, so the value is thumbs up.

Super Toro is a hidden gem! If you walk too fast, you will miss it. It is located inside the Gallery Social Eats building in the 3rd St Promenade. We came in on the last Friday of the month which to our surprise they have $4 beers all day long, that's always a plus if you enjoy beers like me! We didn't really know what to expect coming in since they had so many options to eat. Amy is a chef at Super Toro, she asked my wife and I if it was our first time, and I am so glad she asked because we felt lost at first. She quickly got us feeling welcomed and at home. She gave us a run down of the menu and WOW everything sounded amazing. I asked her to give me nothing but the best and what she recommended...and let me tell you Amy delivered! She had amazing customer service and was highly knowledgeable of the menu. So you get to choose from a menu with 4 different food sections and 5 or 6 options in each that come in a bento box (see menu). We ended up getting spicy salmon on top of crispy rice, pork belly on top of top of crispy rice, which let me just tell you is a must! The pork is cooked to absolute perfection and the rice OMG THE RICE!! Literally the rice is the topping of food! It's buttery from the inside and crispy on the outside. We also got California roll and spicy tuna roll. Oh and we can't forget the greens! We had spicy edamame and seaweed salad! I must say this was a perfect combo bento box! Just want to say thank you to Amy and Super Toro folks for this memorable first experience at SuperToro, gracias and we will be back.

Love "Social Eats" especially their "Last Fridays" where the the last Friday of every month they have $3.00 beer all day and night! Best price anywhere on the Westside -- plus you get to try about 8 different restaurants and grab a table in one of the indoor/outdoor spaces some with a view of the promenade below. Favorites are STRFSH -- with killer fish sandwiches but they also have a nice "Hot Chicken" one which I've gotten several times. FUKU (David Chang's chicken place) is now open on the bottom floor. They recently put in one of those "beer tap" places where you buy a card and pour your own brew by the ounce. Some high quality ones too. Everything is fast casual and not expensive so come check this place out before the crowds discover it!

This review is primarily focused around Amy, who was incredible. Some of the best customer service I have experience in Santa Monica. Not only was she a smiling face, but she went above and beyond to make sure that my experience was top notch. If management actually reads these, go give her a high five and say thank you again from Wayne. She deserves it.

Ordered the Garlic chicken that comes with asparagus, zucchini, and noodles. Brought it home excited to enjoy a nice meal while I watch CNN and the increasingly bigger holes that continue to punch through the hull of the sinking presidential ship that Trump sits on. I open the box, grab my hashi's, and start digging into my dinner. Literally two bites into it I put a bite in my mouth to find the hardest piece of asparagus I've ever bitten into. I find that the rest of the slices of asparagus are all from the bottom of the stock. Hard to chew, almost raw, and truly surprised to find not one spear head in the whole order. Don't buy any of their dishes that have veggies in them because they use the worst part of them in their dishes! Yuk!

For a place in a food court, this place is good. The crispy rice and the rock shrimp are must gets, and the sushi is fresh! Getting good quality sushi has never been faster, making this lunch stop ideal if you are in a hurry. However, the portions are a bit small, and the price is steep for a food court lunch stop. Expect to pay about $19 for four small items. As my friend was eating her bento box last time we went to lunch, it crossed my mind that a Trust Me Lite at Sugarfish was roughly the same price for a bit more sushi. I like the concept of this place, but I am interested to see how it will survive in this competitive market.
