So many food options and all were really good. Incredibly welcoming staff with owner present, which is special. Will definitely return!!!

Literally the worst Chinese restaurant — it’s so dirty. The owner is pretty nice by trying to advise us to order their signature dish which is also their most expensive dish; we waited for a very long time for our food because there was actually only 1 person working in the kitchen, the rest of the three people all came in and out of the kitchen trying to take orders by using the same gloves they prepared the food. You will pass by their open-door kitchen by going to the bathroom, it’s nasty. The owner was nice by offering you a free entree while you wait, but the entree was probably from some leftover or returned food cause she served us freed chicken pieces and some of them had rice… the food tasted mediocre, don’t know where the high rating score comes from…

The experience here has been rather frantic. Wait time was very long which was easy to understand as it was Saturday evening . Dishes are normally served in a specific order at eateries , however, we were given a plate of lumpy Combination fried rice first. When we asked about the hot and sour soup that we had ordered, we were told that there they were trying to handle a large number of orders, and they couldn’t give us all the dishes that we had ordered. Well, we didn’t really want all the dishes, just the soup. We got free starters which was really nice of them. We had ordered chicken chow mein, got shrimp instead. They did change it to what we had ordered. Really liked the mango boba, and would definitely recommend the crabmeat wontons, they were crispy, with very tender meat as filling. The hot and sour soup was bland.

I've lived in Mtry most of my life & have NEVER been to Jim's. I've heard some mixed reviews, but today was the day my son & I ventured out & I'm soooo glad we did. It's a very small place & we were looking to get something to go (which we did), but the overall experience was incredible. Family inviting, interactive, "crazy," large portions (at least 2 days' worth of leftovers), the owner/chief greets you as well w/a little snack to chew on while you wait (friends won tons & something else..I think a seseme ball) so good. We even asked about their Boba....fresh, NO powders, so I had to try the Tia Tea...omg soooo delicious (I went back 2 days later for more). Won ton soup delicious the best I have ever tasted, orange chicken (where you can actually taste the orange zest) was a game changer ? chow main noodles ? cooked to perfection ? & lastly the shrimp ? fried rice was so good & lite (NOT oily like most places). Very filling all of it. With all of this good stuff & the Tia tea, we will be back again & this time, we will stay to enjoy the ambiance of it all.

Parking: If you're NOT able to get parking in the very front of the restaurant, then you have to park in the attached side lot that is closer to Broadway & then walk from there. Parking lot needs some work (lots of debris & potholes), but it's free & unlimited (NO time restrictions).

The food was very good! Very reminiscent of the Chinese food I had growing up, so very nostalgic. The hospitality was great too! The staff was so friendly.

Best in town. I had the Mongolian beef, Chicken broccoli, and beef chow fun. All were decent.

My brother-in-law took us here. He's been coming here for years. They even catered his parent's funeral. Not bad.

Highly recommended

Staff are very nice. My son was very hungry and they are busy. So they gave us extra food for free. Big portion food. We loved it.

I would not have eaten in the restaurant if I knew how cramped the space was - but the sesame chicken and potstickers were pretty good. The chow mein was more or less just spaghetti noodles though, I’d pass on that. I’d strongly recommend that they provide a check to guests - they just rang me up and without seeing the breakdown I couldn’t understand how it got to the total (it was tax, I’m dumb). They also gave us a veggie cream cheese wonton appetizer that was decent and apparently free, so that was a nice gesture. Clearly they try hard but it’s a bit chaotic in there.

Great food. Seating area is pretty limited, but they do a huge takeout business and so it the kitchen was very busy even though few people were seated in the restaurant. We were warned up front that there would be a long wait (on a Monday evening), but we weren't in a hurry. We chose a "dinner for 2" combo and it was plenty of food for 2 hungry guys.

SO AWESOME. This is legit. Grabbed takeout for the whole family tonight. Every dish was delicious, hot and fresh. Service was very friendly and polite! We tried a wide selection of different foods and were all very pleased (and FULL!). Would definitely recommend Jim’s to anyone visiting or local. As a bonus the price is also very reasonable and you receive good portions. We will be coming back for sure.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in town and it's not even close. This small quaint restaurant serves amazing food, while the owner is one the most kind women you'll ever meet who loved talking to my daughter. Wonderful place!

Jim’s was AMAZING! We got Shanghai dumpling (xiao long bao), bbq pork buns, Jim’s dumpling soup, bbq pork fried rice, and chicken chow mein. The owner gave us a free fried mushroom and crab Rangoon appetizer that was HUGE and so yummy. All the food is well seasoned (we barely added soy sauce and we usually drench our Chinese food in it because we loooooove the extra umami salty taste). We also got a pot of their jasmine tea and it was a perfect loose leaf blend, we ended up drinking two full pots. The dumplings came with the most amazing dipping sauce as well that we added some Chinese vinegar to and it was perfect. Thank you so much for your fantastic service and food, we will be back next time we are in the area!

Best Chinese food in the entirety of Monterey County. I've been going here for over ten years now and have never been dissapointed! If there's a wait, it's because it's worth it!
