Very excited we found this spot! We tried to go to another spot and were treated poorly, so we decided to check Jose's out. The staff is super friendly, the food was very good, and the prices were right! Customary free chips and salsa were great too.

Go here for Shrimp Nachos! Or anything else on the menu too :)Eating at Jose’s means that you will encounter some of the kindest folks that either work here or they come here to eat - they will treat you like family and whether you’re just getting to-go food or sitting at the bar, it’s always good food and conversation.

In the past few years, I had driven by this restaurant many times and for whatever reason, I just never bothered to eat there. I finally ate there with a childhood friend of mine visiting from out of town. I have had dinner and/or lunch here on a few occasions over the past few months with family and friends. The staff are all super-friendly. I usually have the standard enchiladas with rice and beans. I can say without hesitation that their red enchilada sauce is off the charts fabulous. It is exceptionally good. Being a tortilla chip fanatic, I love it when they refill the basket. I don't drink alcohol, so I can't comment on that. I like that they serve the Coke in a bottle. It's a small restaurant. Parking in their parking lot can be difficult. I usually park on the street on Broadway because there is usually a spot, but I have to walk a bit which is always good to burn off the calories after a great meal. I will be having lunch there very soon with a business associate of mine as well as family and friends.

Top notch authentic Mexican food!! A small but mighty place, the food is absolutely amazing! The service is so kind, friendly, and unbeatable. The epitome of the "hole in a wall" place you wished you heard about because it is AMAZING! Ps order the 'off menu' bean dip, it's to die for!

Such a cute Mexican restaurant off of Del Monte in Seaside. (The entrance to the parking lot is on Broadway). The decorations and ambience were both colorful and fun. Our waitress was super welcoming and attentive.Unfortunately, the food was very frustrating. I say frustrating because they CAN be better. The potential for amazing food is clearly there, but there were a couple of stumbles that made it hard to swallow. For example, their red salsa was amazing, full of flavor and tasted fresh. On the other hand, the green salsa, while still fresh tasting and had a good level of heat, was bland, very under-seasoned and needed more acidity and salt. The beans were blended smooth and creamy; I liked them, my lunch date did not. Steak fajitas - awesome, tamale - broken and cooked unevenly. Shrimp cocktail: the tomato sauce with avocado and onion was great! I probably could have drank it. Then... We got to the shrimps in the shrimp cocktail...the texture and taste were clear indicators that they were frozen precooked shrimps. You might be able to do serve that in a land-locked state but not in Monterey, where other local restaurants are serving fresh shrimp.Hopefully they find a way to bring consistency to the taste and quality of all their dishes. Currently, it almost taste like different cooks are making different sauces and dishes. It is definitely a place that I want to come back to and maybe even bring guests.

Been here 10x now. As good as any place there is. Go a La carte and if the tamales are available, get'em! Flautas are awesome. Salsa is Devine. Solid beer list- great Margies Great service. Do it.

Small place but very busy was here on a Friday night and it was packed. Had a very small local cantina feel to it, staff was very friendly. Quite noisy but then again it was a Friday night so it's to be expected. Had the chicken nachos and they were very good lots of cheese and a good amount of meat, Did not skimp on the cheese I would say at least 3/4 to a full pound of cheese on them. Spices on chicken were good but reminded me more of a Jamaican Jerk chicken then mexican.Parking: Actual parking lot has maybe 7 spots.if I remember correctly, so u either need to find somewhere on a side street or park across from restaurant and risk walking across a major street and intersection

I was Very disappointed after getting ready to munch the Enchiladas were flavor-less and the rice tasted old reheated or something. The server asked if I was Sad .. yes your food is a (C-) worst Mexican Food. Will have to go to Salinas for good Food … Thank you …
