“Wow! What a GREAT spot right in Shafter! Leanna our waitress was wonderful, she was on it, pleasant, funny, and really made it a special lunch for our large work group. I had a huge taco salad and the combo pizza was one of the best pizza's I have had in a long time. The sausage on the pizza was so good it was hard for us to NOT pick through the pizza, ha! Happy to support the restaurant of a retired Kern County firefighter“

“Driving home from a vacation stay in SECal, my partner and I wanted a nice, homey Italian dinner and found Giovanni's after a quick online search. This place is truly a HIDDEN GEM in the heart of farm country.

We had to order the popular stuffed mushrooms, and they were delicious. My honey had the grilled chicken fettuccini Alfredo, and it was tasty as any she has ever had. I ordered the lasagna, and it was the most satisfying lasagna I have had since I left home in NYC thirty years ago.

The service was nothing short of perfect as we walked in on a Saturday, some 20 minutes before closing, to an entirely empty dining room. We weren't expecting much on service, considering the circumstances, but we were warmly welcomed and graciously served by a truly special couple (we assume they are the owners).

The atmosphere is definitely old school Italian eatery.....just think 1990 in the Bronx. It was clean and well kept, and made me smile as soon as I walked in. It was familiar in the most positive way.

Are we going to be passing by Shafter in the near future? That is doubtful. But, if we are within a 60 minute drive of Giovanni's, we are sure making it a point to stop again.“

There is music you can select to play for $1. Friday pizza deal is pizza, chicken, and wedges for $17.99. It's nice and airy and cool to beat the summer heat. Give it a try; you will be glad you did. “High quality ingredients for superb taste, abundant toppings, evenly distributed toppings, friendly staff, and extreme value. Easy to bake for a fresh crisp crust. I bake a regular crust pizza for 8 min on the tray at 425 and then separate the crust from the pan by lifting the edge with a spatula as I turn the pizza in the oven using tongs. I then slide the loosened pizza off the pan onto the middle rack to complete the baking. Yummy and perfect every time!!

Vegetarian options: For vegetarians, I highly recommend trying the Herb Chicken Mediterranean without the chicken and adding another topping, like garlic, at no extra cost.“
