About Brød & Kage Bakery

Brød & Kage Bakery is a popular spot in Solvang, known for its authentic Danish pastries and high-quality baked goods. Visitors praise the bakery for its fresh, flavorful pastries that are soft, crispy, and perfectly baked, capturing the true European style. The bakery offers traditional Danish treats such as Sara Bernhard, kransekage, prinsesskage, kringle, and fastelavnsbolle, which are fluffy and filled with custard, and are often sold out quickly. The selection also includes Bülow licorice, adding to its authentic Danish charm. The cozy courtyard provides a lovely setting to enjoy the goodies.

While the pastries receive high praise, some visitors note limited drink options, with only four choices, and occasional issues with service, including rushed orders and payment limitations to credit cards only. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience is positive, with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. Many consider it the best Danish bakery outside Denmark, especially recommended for travelers passing between Northern and Southern California on highway 101. Brød & Kage Bakery is regarded as a delightful place to indulge in Danish treats, enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, and experience a taste of Denmark abroad.

Awesome, must visit place. Feels so relaxed seating at the back and eating special danish backery products
Brød & Kage Bakery is such a great spot! Everything tastes fresh and high quality. The pastries are soft, flavorful, and perfectly baked. You can really feel the authentic European style in every bite.

The service was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. It’s a perfect place for breakfast or brunch, whether you want coffee with a pastry or something more filling.

Definitely recommend if you’re in the area. I’ll be coming back again...read full review
For a bakery that serves pastries their choice of coffee and drinks were extremely limited. They had four options, and we tried two of them and both tasted like pour over coffee and not espresso, even though it was advertised as espresso.
Pastries were good, fresh, crispy and flavorful.
