Cafe La Haye is a charming restaurant in Sonoma, offering consistently good food and excellent service. The menu features tasty dishes, including special entrees and salads. The chef's creations are difficult to choose from, but all are prepared well with out-of-this-world flavors. The seasonal dishes pack serious flavor, like the unforgettable heritage pork chop and the ever-changing risotto. The presentation of the entrees and salads is excellent, and there is a great selection of wines to pair with the meals.
The restaurant is under new ownership and has a lively atmosphere with a small, cozy dining space. The staff is delightful, and the food is dependable, with a rare miss on one dessert. The restaurant is not really suitable for children, as it is more conducive to a quiet dinner. The starters, such as the arugula watermelon salad and braised short ribs with a pastry and peas, carrots, are very good. The Ceaser salad was made to perfection and the burger was excellent, with fresh delicious cooked juicy meat and amazing cheese with local farm sweet tomatoes served on the best bun. The apple crisp dessert is awesome, and the apricot crisp with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce was unforgettable.
The high ceilings make the restaurant rather quiet, and the service is provided by a whole team, ensuring that nothing is left unattended. One guest experienced fabulous service when the server remade a fresh salad after it sat for a while. The mango sorbet from the nearby Scoops is also highly recommended. Just be sure to make a reservation—the place fills up fast!
