Sandwich and chips was so much I couldn't even finish it. A little confused and mixed up trying to order when busy. I would eat here again.

I have been going to Darby Dans since it first opened in the 70's. The place had a small counter and a few women working there. No longer live in California. Plus , moved out of the bay area years ago. I have been there at least one time a year since they opened.

The sandwiches were very good, but what really caught my eye was that the customer service was excellent. This building may be old, but the owners keep it nice and clean.! I definitely recommend stopping by and having a sandwich here.

I ordered a sandwich two sandwiches both the same piccolo the lady asked me what would I like on it I told her everything but mayonnaise she said so only mustard I said yes so she continued to make my sandwich and didn't add lettuce tomato onion or avocado that I asked for and paid for when I call the place and tell him about it after I got home the person answering the phone says know that I told the lady only mustard now why would somebody only want mustard and meat on their sandwich never going there again then when I call and say that the sandwich was wrong it's missing all kinds of things they say that it's my fault I said only mustard why would I only want mustard and meat on a sandwich when I had already said everything no mayo.

At $20 a sandwich perhaps there should be minimal effort in service. Overrated af

Great place. Kind of an old style, homey deli, with a good selection of sandwiches (several bread choices) and also a grill. Good selection of drinks. Indoor seating is available. Service was very good and fast. For someone with limited time, like a lunch break, it is excellent, and indeed, many of the patrons at the time were workers in their lunch break. Recommended.

I recently visited Darby Dan sandwich shop in South San Francisco and had a delightful experience! I indulged in one of their liverwurst sandwiches, which was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and served fresh. I also tried their burgers, which were juicy and well-cooked, truly satisfying my craving for comfort food. The atmosphere of the shop is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a casual lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. I highly recommend Darby Dan to anyone looking for tasty sandwiches and a relaxed dining environment in South San Francisco!

Absolutely delicious sandwich! I opted for the Turkey and cheddar on a sourdough roll, and it was truly enjoyable. Their fountain soda machine, offering flavor mixing, adds to the experience. A definite go-to spot; I'll definitely return.

I used to eat here a lot but the last few times I felt sick right after. I think it's the mayonnaise because it always seems warm.

Crab Salad Sandwiches are my favorite and Darbys is solid! Hefty on the fillings and flavor is definitely top 3. On this particular visit I asked if the sandwich could be toasted and I was shown the crab melt sandwich as the option. Next time will maybe give that a try but not sure that’s exactly what I was looking for so I rolled with it as usual, everything on it except jalapeños.
