We used to eat at least 3 times a week at the tocaya location in Scottsdale, Az. Return after 3 months to some crappy, sodium ridden, not as gluten friendly menu. Old owners need to buy this company back because the big company sucks.
First off, Terrific Customer Service at the Long Beach, CA location! The manager is amazing. So helpful with recommendations when asked, provides great detail, and is so enthusiastic about the incredible menu.
Tocaya at 2nd & PCH has lovely, fresh, bright, clean food. The menu is unique and flexible. You get to choose the protein you want, the cheese you want, whether or not you want your dish to be vegan. So many options and super tasty food!

I have to be gluten free. My wife has to be gluten, dairy, and grain free. But we LOVE Mexican food! This combo usually leads to a lack-luster dining experience, and we NEVER get to order desert - UNTIL we came here! WOW! We were SO SHOCKED that the staff was EXTREMELY helpful, knew exactly what was in there food with zero complaints or confusion (NOT common). Based on the reviews, Tocaya Modern Mexican offers delicious and tasty food with amazing presentation and cleanliness. The BIRRIA TORTA was an 11/10, and the Taco Combo with Cauliflower and Queso Birria (melted jalapeño escabeche) is rico. Other popular meals include the La Flor Taco, Cauliflower Taco, Steak, Grilled Chicken, Taco Dorado, Baja tacos, vegan queso dip, and Corn Tortilla Soup. The Guacamole has pomegranate and roasted pepitas seeds. The Horchata, made with almond milk, is served in a cute glass mug and is delicious. The interior is relaxing, classy, spacious, and has comfortable seats with a clean, green, and fresh ambiance. The decor and color choices are beautiful. Table service is friendly and gives good recommendations. The service is quick, and the staff is pleasant. This location is always 100% perfect with great attention to detail. Parking is not too great, but the food is delicious and worth every penny. Tocaya rarely disappoints.
