Staff was excellent and attentive. Food was amazing and very, very creative. The brick barrel vaulted ceiling that runs the length of the restaurant really adds to the ambiance of this place. Out of the seven dishes, only two were not as flavorful as expected. They were good by most other restaurant's standards, but just not great like the others. The other five dishes more than made up for this small blip.Can't wait to go again.

Lamb chops with Aji Amarillo, rosemary, and yogurt. These were the most tender lamb chops I have ever had. And that often overly-lamb flavor was not there.
And do not pass up on the Charred Skirt Steak with yuca, chile de árbol, and aji mojo. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and extremely tender and exploding with flavor. The most expensive item of our dinner at $48 and absolutely worth it.“

“I came back for lunch for the first time in nearly 25 years, and it felt like stepping back in time. Since moving away, I hadn’t visited this area at all. The interior is unchanged, the service is warm and welcoming, and the homemade Japanese comfort food is just as delicious as I remembered. You’d be hard-pressed to find another place in the Valley that serves hijiki (seaweed) rice so casually and authentically.“

That said the sour cream blueberry donut and sweet corn and blueberry flavors were also great.“

“So delicious. Everything was perfect. We had steamed dumplings with one of the most delicious dipping sauces! The Tom Kha Tofu soup was definitely the best Tom Kha I've ever had. Carbonara was also really good. We were so excited about the menu that we also grabbed two extra dishes something to go. “Katsu-ya is my neighborhood sushi spot, and it is a good one. This is not the place you go when you want the best sushi of your life or a meal that is going to blow your mind. This is where you go when you want good, consistent sushi any day of the week.

It is the Toyota Avalon of sushi restaurants, on the upper end of reliable, and I go there constantly. They are always busy and have many celebrity clients, if that matters to you. Service is consistently great as well. If you want a table, it is best to make a reservation since they are often very busy.“

We finally got called to our seats, the waitress was very friendly and explain the menu. It is hard to read the menu because the lights are super deemed. The staff here over the past few years have always been amazing. They always remember who you are and you really feel like family. The sizes of the bowls are great!
