Hands down the best Mexican restaurant taco experience I’ve had in San Diego. I typically cook at home when it comes to Mexican food because I’m always disappointed but this place feels so homemade it’s refreshing. The potato tacos remind me of my grandmas kitchen in Mexico and the fresh fruit water is like I’m drinking it at a small town plaza. The place itself is so upscale and inviting. 1000/10. Del Norte CaliMex offers a highly recommended Mexican food experience in San Diego. The quality of the food is excellent, with many calling it the best taco experience they have had. The atmosphere is upscale, inviting, and welcoming, with a nice, new feel and good seating. The food is delicious, hot, and feels homemade, with fresh ingredients. Specific menu highlights include the potato tacos, two al pastor tacos, carne asada burrito, prime steak burrito, carnitas nachos, and a Carne asada bowl. The meats are very tender and full of flavor. The homemade tortillas are made fresh in-house, and the salsa bar has many fresh options. The guacamole is the best, and the fresh fruit water and cucumber mint agua fresca are refreshing. The food is flavored but not overly salted. The restaurant is clean, with exceptionally clean restrooms and enjoyable music. Prices are fair. While ordering ahead online or over the phone can be a huge pain, and they wait to prepare food until you arrive, the dine-in experience is worth it. Late night specials are available, and the restaurant is worth the drive to Temecula.
