Excellent food, great service. We had the garlic knots as an appetizer, and they were more original than any other I've had. They take the dough and roll it thin and slice it like cinnamon rolls. This delicate rolled dough is more pastry than knot, but that touch imbues it with the flavors of the freshly chopped garlic that adorns the top and sides, along with freshly cut parsley and the copious olive oil that the rolls sit in. Delicious! We also had the slice of the day, along with some Sicilian slices topped with mushrooms and fresh basil. Often when pizzerias say they have basil as a topping, it's dried basil, and that seems like cheating as it's just another dried spice or herb. But here we had piles of freshly chopped basil that had that amazing aroma wafting into our noses as we dined. The Sicilian slices are thicker than their normal slice -what they call "New York thin." There is a toastiness to the crust edges that was quite satisfying. If you're ever in Truckee, this is the place for amazing pizza and friendly service.

Honestly, we found our gem in Truckee. Very kid friendly, good portions and priced fairly compared to the rest of the town. Our most recent experience was with Gustavo and he was really welcoming and friendly.

The only spot with slices to go in town. The pizza is unbelievable and the ladies are super nice behind the counter, the only drawbacks are that it can take a bit to get your slices, and when it gets busy, it can get really loud, so take it to go!

Stopped here for a few slices of pizza, even though it was supposed to be thin crust four different slices and they all were over cooked... some parts of the pizza was so cooked it was like none edible.

Best Pies has changed a little bit over the years. I recently went in to order an mid-afternoon snack and grab a drink after doing some shopping nearby. I ended up ordering the Spinach Pockets and an Old Fashioned. The pockets were a little doughy and they took about 30 minutes to cook... the couple sitting next to me said that is not what they looked like when they ordered them before. The flavor was good, but it was a bit of a mess to handle. The Old Fashioned was nice. And I still appreciate that I can order a decent cocktail at the local pizza spot. But what really irked me is that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to my bill. There were no signs that indicated this was their policy. The only reason I even found out was becuase the credit card receipt had a line for "ADDITIONAL tip". I normally pay in cash and if I had paid in cash this time I wouldn't have even noticed the autograt on my bill. There is no issue with a 20% tip, but it strikes me as a bit shady.

Wow. Been coming to truckee for years never been here. Great customer service, full bar, good food and great prices. Pizza pie was huge and looked delish. Patrick our server was fantastic.
