Big portions, great food. Friendly service. Love the atmosphere, right across the street from Donner Lake.

One spot left at the bar with the previous guests plates still there. Host sat me down there and cleaned the spot right away. I remarked that its a good sign that the plates were empty. Sure enough I finished mine completely too. Absolutely delicious.

Edit: we visited again, and we were appalled by the poor experience. Extremely slow service even with several wait staffers.

The host was playing with a baby and not focusing on his job. He estimated a 20 minute wait, but it was close to an hour. Then when we sat, we ordered immediately. It still took almost 40 minutes to get our food. This little trip took almost 2 hours total.

Finally, they automatically added the tip without mentioning it when they gave us the bill.

We had such a nice time the first time that we stuck it out, but I don't think we'll bother going again.

Previous review:

The service is a bit slow, but the food was done well. I think they were a bit shorthanded because there were open tables, and yet we had to wait a while. We briefly thought about moving on to the next option, but after we finished we were glad we stayed.

Bring an appetite. Moderately priced, but you cannot see your plate when they bring your food.

My favorite breakfast place in the area. The servers and hosts are friendly and helpful. We got there at 9:30 and there was already a 20 minute wait. By 10AM the wait was almost an hour. You can ask to sit the bar, if they have space, and you can order drinks while you wait.

The food was tasty and felt homemade. The Cowboy’s Breakfast was delicious! The biscuits were soft and fluffy, the gravy was not to thick and the sausage patty was so flavorful. The Pancake Breakfast (#6) was good, too. Large and fluffy pancakes.

Donna Lake Kitchen is a local cozy breakfast place I stumbled upon while visiting. The place provided a “country home” atmosphere and the waitstaff was perky friendly. The food was extremely tasty and of substantial portions. The coffee ☕️is delicious with free refills! (I’m a fan of that)
What I did not like was my check being place at my table before I got my food and the 4$ fee that is charged to you for use of a credit card.
I think overall it is a lovely place and the outside seating area is illuminated with nature. 🍽️
I recommend a try just bring cash! Happy Eating!
