MIKKO SUSHI is a nice place to get sushi at great prices. While not the best sushi ever, it's good for a casual date night. The waitress, Luna, provided exceptional service and saved the day when an entree was missing. The dining room is simple, with good music playing. The menu offers dishes like Unagi, Vegas Roll, and Spicy Chicken Teriyaki, accompanied by miso soup, rice, and salad. The House Hot Sake is decent for the price. The restaurant gets busy, especially during dinner hours, but the food, like shrimp shumai, albacore sushi, and specialty rolls, is scrumptious and fresh. Some of the best sushi North County has to offer! Their fish is always super fresh, so there's no need to go for the spicy tuna, tempura, or over-the-top rolls. The best rolls are full of fresh fish and veggies, such as Carlsbad, Omega 3, EPA, DHA, Ocean, and the salmon & a o rolls. The staff is very friendly, and the menu is large with lots of options, making it very family-friendly. While the fish is tasty and fresh, some dishes have more cucumber than fish. Many guests enjoy the miso ramen too. However, some feel that the focus on takeout business affects the dine-in experience, as the sushi bar is often closed to make space for takeout orders. Sitting in the rear by the bathrooms can be confusing and less comfortable. To improve the experience, outside heaters would be helpful while waiting to be seated or eating. Overall, MIKKO SUSHI is a good spot for sushi lovers seeking a casual, friendly atmosphere.
