I was debating between 2 or 3 stars. To clarify. The food, as other reviews say, is good. The owner is friendly too and well adapted to a western audience. It was the owner's wife who served as the server who left us completely unsatisfied. 'You can't order this or that.' Fine. If you want to be a stickler to your rules, I cant argue with that.
An unfriendly demeanor and rushing us to pay and leave when your restaurant isn't even half full? That irks me.
I had barely finished eating when she handed us the bill and takeout box without prompting. Then when I had barely gotten out my wallet and was still deciding which card to use, the owner's wife was hovering over my shoulder waiting to grab my card. Since your tables weren't even full, don't you want your paying customers to stay longer so passerbys are under the impression that your joint is popular?
My mom insisted I give the standard 18% tip so as to not make Asians look 'cheap'. If not I would have most definitely docked on the gratuity.

The sign said open, so we walked in. The lady was watching TV, looked at us, and said they were closed. She didn’t want to get up to flip the sign. I said sorry and left. I guess they don’t want customers.
Love the owners!

Nice owners and service. Fish wasn't very fresh. Teri chicken was good.

The food was pretty good. They had these little flip cards with pictures of all of the rolls so you could see what each one looked like. They had very large pieces of sashimi so you really get your money’s worth. While the sushi was good, I wouldn’t say it was exceptional. The crab meat in the California rolls were mixed with a lot of mayo which was gave it a weird texture and taste. However, the other rolls were pretty good.
The best sushi ever!!

I’ve been a fan of this place in the past, but on my recent visit, I noticed a decline in quality. I ordered California roll unagi nigiri and the tempura roll—they lacked flavor and freshness I’ve come to expect. The taste felt a bit off compared to more authentic sushi spots. Hoping it was just an off day, as I’d love to see the quality return to what it once was.

The last two times we were there we’ve noticed the quality of the sushi and the sushi preparation and presentation has gone down. Also they seem to be skimping on the amount of fish on the sushi itself. We’ve been dining at this place for many years and I think we are going to look for another place. I also want to add that we also use to go to Nama that was in Pleasant Hill by the Century Theater that closed down.

Yakisoba was absolutely killer. So delicious and it came to the table piping hot. Miso soup was also the perfect appetizer to start. The chicken yakitori was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back.

Absolutely terrible. I ordered the 10 nigir platter and 6 of them were all the same fish and of poor quality. I literally paid $30 to eat the “Sprout discounted frozen fish on Wednesday” . My work place is near this restaurant and tried it a couple times last year and it was good. But now it's not good anymore. Will never come back again.
