The food is amazing. Such unique flavors and the ambience is so peaceful. A hidden gem truly. Had brunch there for my birthday and then came back for dinner the same weekend. The staff is super friendly too. Definitely a must visit when in Aspen. Few minutes walk from the Aspen airport.

Saw there was a black owned spot in the area on my trip to Aspen so of course I had to give it a shot. Food was good, but I couldn’t really enjoy it how I wanted to because I was getting watched by a server the whole time, which made me highly uncomfortable. I know it must be very uncommon to see people of my color in the area but didn’t need the awkward staring down my throat as I tried to eat.

Just had an amazing dinner experience at Mawa’s Kitchen! This place is literally a hidden gem in Aspen. I’m so happy I made our dinner reservation in advance for our group of 6. The staff were amazing and very accommodating too. Overall 5 stars!!!!

First - READ THE OTHER 1 STAR REVIEWS. You will see I am not alone in falling for the scheme they are running. It may even be a criminal operation - here is why:We initially made reservation for Saturday night for 8 people. We had to reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances.A staff member switched our reservation to six people on Sunday night. He even shared his name and confirmed it back to us.However, when a storm was coming in over the weekend and several people in our party had to leave town, we called to cancel our reservation. The person on the phone claimed the restaurant isn't open on Sunday for dinner! AND... they would be charging us $680 for our 8 person no show (even though they saw that I called and had notes of my reservation change!)They said oh, "our staff member must not have been trained and we will make note of that!"The employee was so incredibly rude and told me to go ahead and dispute on Amex as they have won multiple disputes before.A clear sign of poor customer service is now costing me $680 for a reservation that I could NOT even go to because they are NOT open for dinner on Sundays! My feeling is they do this often, to try to steal money from would be customers. Read the other reviews and you'll see.As someone who visits Aspen several times a year, I am deeply disappointed and would advise all to think twice before booking dinners, parties, OR catering with this company. Do not fall for this scheme. If the credit card company does not refund us, we will be reporting Mawa's to the local police and better business bureau.

We read about his amazing restaurant before our trip to Aspen and wanted to go for sure. We where so glad we did. The food was so delicious and unique. Our server and all the staff were fantastic. We felt very welcomed. We ordered the bread board, west African gumbo, Mefe with tofu and the spiced chicken berbere. We will definitely come back. I only regret not getting anything to go from their mouth watering desert case.

The food is very very tasty at Mawa’s kitchen and like everything in Aspen, eyewateringly expensive. Service is super friendly but I think the restaurant itself could use a bit of an update, especially the washrooms. Generally speaking if you have 68 dollar entree on the menu, you shouldn’t have the same industrial paper towel dispenser as the local airport in your bathroom.

This place is incredible! I took my son for a mommy and me day and we decided to start our day here. We are both huge fans of breakfast and it was FANTASTIC to say the least. We both agreed it was the best breakfast we have ever had… and we eat breakfast out a lot!!! Service was great as well! We will definitely be back next time we come through!

I wanted to like this place more and was excited to visit. As an aside their crepes place at the base of Snowmass is good value. The flagship restaurant is off the beaten path by the airport which is not a bad thing per se — often the best food is to be found outside of trophy locations. Once you find it, the place is cozy and cute with attentive service. Another positive was the burrata and pear salad which was citrusy and bright. One wishes for a larger chunk of burrata but no real quibbles. The cocktail was OK. Now for the bad news — the oxtail — priced at $62 — was a big disappointment. It was an enormous plate split in three parts. A third was the oxtail which for me was way too fatty. I had to dig hard to find non fat meat. The middle section was the grits which were cool (temperature wise) and just OK. The last ribbon was mushrooms which were nice and warmer than than the grits but over salted. Having such an expensive miss in your signature entree was disappointing. Passed on dessert.

I don’t know if I have ever wrote a review online before but this place is amazing. Best breakfast I have had in a long time. If I lived local I would be there every day.
