Three of us went to brunch. We ordered the truffle beef burger and the French toast with chantilly cream and strawberry syrup. I requested the chantilly cream on the side and maple syrup instead of strawberry syrup. The naked French toast arrived, and we all stared at the single piece of French toast. Service was good, food most interesting, ambiance marvelous. The one disappointment was that I asked for Centenaire (B&B and cognac) which is unique from Grand Marnier du Centenaire. I was served what I thought was a Centanaire & was disappointed with the taste (I had not had it in many years). When the bill arrived I was charged for a Hennessy VS which explained why I was disappointed with the taste as I was not served Centanaire. Every time I come here, I love it more than the time before. Staff is 10/10 from hostess to busters to managers to servers. Food is on point. Drink game is better than solid. Value is excellent. Imneighborhood place but greatly elevated.
The Absinthe Bar is a hidden gem located in the main strip. Upon entering, guests descend a dark wooden stairwell and are greeted by a casual, low-key, and moody atmosphere. Attentive bartenders and drink masters are ready to assist with drink selections, featuring options like the Absinthe Espresso Martini, Jade Absinthe, and classic anise-flavored drinks. The unique experience revolves around the process of preparing the drink, which includes adding a sugar cube, lighting it on fire, and diluting with ice water to taste. While drinks may be pricey, with some cocktails reaching $28, the show and the overall experience make it worthwhile. The cocktails are delicious, and the atmosphere resembles a speakeasy with low lighting and good music. Additionally, there are fun activities available, such as a dartboard and a selection of board games. However, guests may want to visit earlier in the evening, as the crowd can get rowdy later on.
