Weāve done most of the highest passes now and Cottonwood doesnāt disappoint! The road (redone and paved in 2017) is in perfect shape! Wide enough that even meeting ābig rigā campers etc, there was plenty of room and didnāt feel crowded at all! Lots of traffic up there for being in the middle of a āpandemicā!
Very beautiful place surrounded by the mountains of the Continental Divide. Small parking (always full). Nice opportunity for short hike with great views including view of small pond below. Leftovers of snow (in July) creates additional beauty. I love this place. The road is brand new, finished not long time ago. Driving to the top and to the bottom is very enjoyable. I recommend this place. RomanP
New road is amazing. Views are spectacular!! Nice hike to get a panarama view at the top. Note: there are some facilities just west of the top if you need that :) . Continue all the way to Taylor Reservoir for to relax at a gorgeous (and huge!) lake in the middle of the mountains.
