South Philly Cheese Steaks is a cool little place with a welcoming head cook, possibly the owner, who makes excellent food. The Coney, a $10 sandwich without sides or drink, had a stale bread bun, but the fillings of kraut, onions, and mustard were still enjoyable. The customizable cheesesteaks are flavorful and tender, with the perfect ratio of meat, cheese, and soft bread, comparable to the best in Philly. The friendly staff pays attention to detail, and the tater tots are also great. Customers want to try the rest of the menu.
