Damn those are some good tacos. And strong margaritas. It’s loud as hell in here. There’s a Bourdain Saint candle. I’ll be back.

I’ve been coming to La Diabla since 2021 and have always loved the food and vibe—but after what happened yesterday, I can’t stay quiet.

I was involved in a parking dispute right outside the restaurant. I had clearly signaled and waited for a spot before another car tried to take it. During the argument, the man from the other car made a comment about me speaking Spanish and being Mexican—a racist remark, especially ironic considering they were going to a Mexican restaurant.

I parked my motorcycle and went inside with my family, including my baby, thinking that was the end of it. To my surprise, the same couple walked into La Diabla. Then the woman came back out, recorded my family without permission (including my baby), and showed it to the staff—claiming we were the ones causing trouble.

Instead of addressing it professionally or fairly, the restaurant staff made us wait to be seated until that party was done eating. When they left, the man even told us, “You can eat now,” as if we needed his permission.

I’ve supported La Diabla for years, but I can’t support a place that allows racist behavior to go unchecked and treats long-time customers this way. The staff could have stepped in and handled things with more respect and care, but instead they let us be humiliated and targeted, all while we were just trying to enjoy a meal with family.

Extremely disappointed.

It is a total hole in the wall restaurant and not easy to find but it appears that is intentional. We walked past it twice. There were several small signs but with different names. I’m a fan of hole in wall restaurants so that was fine. It’s a fairly small place with tables very close together and it is very dimly lit. Most food is served on paper plates and water in non-labeled green and yellow cups. Beer and cocktails are served in real glass. The food was good and reasonably priced. We thought the service was fine compared to other reviews. I don’t think it’s their style to go out of their way to engage. The clientele was mixed. We went early ahead of a Rockies game so by 5 so it was quiet when we arrived. It filled up quickly with mostly people going to the game but we sat at the bar next to a highly intoxicated person hitting on the bar tender and talking about strip clubs so you never know. She never shut up but the bar tender handled her professionally. We had the guac which was really good but we didn’t care for chips served with it as they were either stale or intentionally not crisp. We had avg had a pork taco ($3). They were very small but very flavorful. My husband had a carne asada taco and I had a roasted chicken taco ($8 and each). They were good but fell apart after the first bite. I can’t say I’d go back intentionally but if happened by there , I might stop in.

Amazing place. Hard to tell with the small sign but look for it until you find it. Wednesday special is 2 tacos and a margarita for$5!

Confusing experience. The desayuno menu on their website and the hours on Google show it opens for brunch at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Waited at the address for 10 minutes, then an employee showed up and said to go around back in the alley, where the only thing available was a pound of pork or beef along with taco fixings, and no coffee, i.e. nothing on their online menu. So if you're looking for the breakfast/brunch menu and hours that are posted online, maybe call ahead to figure out what's going on, or have a backup plan to go elsewhere. Not trying to be picky, but not keeping hours and basic info like this updated online seems to be either lazy and/or disrespectful to new customers—like the Michelin recognition makes it okay to avoid common sense business practices and confuse people who are excited to check out the place for the first time.

We stopped in on all day buy two get one free pozole Thursdays. After being seated we were offered water and a taster of the red pozole. What a nice idea!
They have five different kinds of pozole. The negro is so smoky, delicious and filling.
Dakota took really good care of us.
We'll be back soon.

Looking for the best tacos, pozole(red), and Ritas in CO? Well you've found it!! This place is a true gem and Denver staple. The pozole is on fire🔥, the tacos 💯 legit (hey, I'm from Texas and I know what I'm talking about), and the Rita's never stop flowing! This is one of the only bars I consistently haunt on a Wed. If you're wondering why on a whole Wed.?... You'll have to pop by and figure all that out for yourself! You won't be sad.

¡Salud!🍻
