Metate Room Reviews
No bread is odd in a “fine dining” establishment.
Food was okay.
They were out of short rib that unfortunately axed about 1/3rd of their menu. Unfortunate.
Great views but not a great variety.
Beer was good and well priced
The Spring Chicken with Mole was dry, likely was under a heat lamp, and did not taste of mole at all. Try something else. The waitress was attentive, and the view was very good.
Staff was super nice. They had five people kolln sick so they were very few waiters. Trying to serve the entire fully booked restaurant. Food came a little slow, but that’s to be expected with the massive understaffing. Our waiter was very polite. Food was OK a little bit dry but kind of what we were expecting. The short rib quesadilla was delicious. The cauliflower was OK. Wish it had more cheese. They were out of the beef short ribs, but were substituting pork spareribs,...read full review

The Metate Room, located within Mesa Verde National Park, offers a decent dining experience for visitors. Despite the challenge of making reservations, the restaurant accommodates guests with ease, even for solo diners. The menu includes a variety of options, such as a well-rounded beef and green chili soup, tender braised short ribs with flavorful sides, and a refreshing lemon tres leche cake. The staff is friendly and attentive, creating a good atmosphere for diners. The view from the restaurant is wonderful, making it a great stop to enjoy the scenery before continuing exploration of the park’s natural beauty. Although the food presentation is good, some dishes may lack flavor; for example, the chicken can be very dry, and the vegetable of the day, broccoli rabe, sometimes has an odd flavor. The short ribs are highly recommended, but the ribeye is tough and not worth ordering. Overall, it’s a convenient place for a sit-down meal with a comfortable setting and excellent views, though the food may not be outstanding. Visitors may also see wildlife, like a buck, stopping nearby to enjoy its dinner.
