great place family owned and operated
Very nice atmosphere- old west feeling. Everyone was friendly, place was extremely busy and we really didn’t wait that much longer to get our food. Pretty good menu overall; they just need to be sure they don’t run out of “the daily special” by 1 pm.

The Pickle Barrel Restaurant is a hidden gem known for outstanding food and wonderful service. The staff is prompt, cheerful, and professional, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. The historic building adds charm to the atmosphere. The Reuben sandwiches are tasty but a bit pricey. It is important to check the closing time as they close early. The restaurant can get busy, so planning ahead is recommended. After a Durango/Silverton train ride, it's a perfect stop, located within walking distance from the railway drop-off. Guests have praised the Kobe burger, BBQ Chicken, and shrimp and mango wrap, stating that the food is delicious with big portions. Visitors also enjoy the berry pie, which is considered the best they have ever had, and the whiskey sauce bread pudding, which is highly recommended. The restaurant offers a cozy, welcoming environment that feels like a true mom and pop stop, less busy and noisy than other lunch spots around town. It features homemade meals, friendly service, and greetings from the owner, making it a great place for a delicious meal with excellent service and a touch of local history.
