“Such a darling coffee shop and general store! I ordered a chai latte for takeaway but they have such a lovely space for hanging out. I will have to stay to enjoy my drink next time!

“My spouse and I are both vegan and this was the best breakfast in Telluride for vegans.

They have three main options: avocado toast, veggie hash bowl and vegan crunch bowl. Two sides: berries and English muffin (no butter).

The avocado toast and veggie hash bowl are both okay. The veggie hash bowl is pre made and no changes can be made - I only say this because my partner and I wanted more potatoes in the hash. The hash is surprisingly potato light. The avocado toast needs something else - maybe some cherry tomatoes and olive oil? It was bland. Both options don’t have a lot of vegan protein. It would be so great if they offered a side of black beans or some vegan protein side (tofu). These options left us hungry later.

Now the greats: the vegan granola bar and vegan crunch bowl are both perfect! They are tasty AND have protein. They sustain you and are so enjoyable. We were suspicious on the granola bar but it was so good I didn’t get any pictures- we ate it quickly.

The berries and English muffin were both fresh and delicious - no notes!

For a small town and the amount of options, this is a great vegan breakfast option.

Of course, they also offer lattes with alternative milk.

“I had a lovely experience at this coffee and ice cream shop in Ouray, Colorado. I enjoyed the coffee, tea, and muffin, and the service was great. But what truly made this place special was the kindness and honesty of the owner.

I accidentally left my crossbody bag in the store, with important documents inside, and didn’t realize it was missing until I returned to my hotel. Since I was traveling from California, I was understandably worried. I called the stores I had visited, and when I contacted this shop, the owner told me he had already gone home but would check for my bag. He actually returned to the store, checked for me, and called to let me know he had found it. He went out of his way to help me and made sure I could get my belongings back.

This level of kindness, honesty, and genuine care is becoming increasingly rare, and it means so much when you encounter it. I’m incredibly grateful for his help. The coffee and treats were lovely, but the owner’s character and willingness to help a stranger made this experience truly memorable.

I highly recommend this shop, not just for its great service, but also because it is run by someone who genuinely cares about people. Thank you for restoring my faith in the kindness of strangers!“

“1886 Coffee was one of our favorite stops in Ouray.

The coffee was excellent, and the blueberry lemonade was incredibly refreshing.

We also loved the fresh muffin and the almond croissant—both were absolutely delicious.

The café has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax, and the baristas were genuinely friendly and provided great service.

I would definitely stop here again on my next visit to Ouray.“
