We loved this place. We hadn't been here before and have been visiting Vail for 23 years. So far no other restaurant in town has meet the food quality and outstanding flavor. The beautiful view superb bar drinks. We had the French onion soup, cornbread, chicken and steak frites with the pretzel and cheese dip. Amazing all the way around. We don't normally repeat restaurants in our week but we may this one! The waiter said it was quiet because the hotel was not busy but it was delicious.

Nice option on a crowded holiday week day night. Food was good if not overpriced. Service was attentive.

It is really a simple cafe at the hotel lobby with simple food. Do not expect much reading that it is it grand Hyatt

On such an important occasion namely Xmas Day we deferred our celebrations to the Grand Hyatt and Gessner restaurant in Vail with great expectations of being offered some traditional food, decorations, musics and all which could have made this evening memorable. What instead was offered was a self service, cafe Terri's food with left overs of probably previous lunch including salmon and half burnt prime rib with overcooked and over salted mashed potatoes and beans and carrots. The desert were only dry cookies and over sweet chocolate cake. The pre determined costs per person of 95 dollars with tax and gratuity brought the cost for two of us to 300 U.S. dollars!!! Wow?! Outrageous costs for a poor and indigestible food. What a waste?! What a waste?!

Was there two years ago New Years Eve and the ambience and food were so much better. Food was not what would be expected from a nice restaurant. More like Bar food. Wait staff was slow and non observant. Loud and noisy for a nice restaurant. Ambience was gone. Not going back. Too bad used to be great!

This restaurant was very disorganized. After we were seated, it took a while for a waiter to take care of us. It was almost an hour before we were even able to order our food. Then it took another hour for half of the table's soup and salad to come out. We waited another 30 minutes to get the other half of the soup and salad for the table. When our main dishes came out, it was cold.

The food at Gessner is better than any food you will eat in Colorado. Denver is not known for being a foodie city - chefs should come here to be inspired.

The dinner was mediocre for the price. They serve breakfast, and it was excellent. At the dinner price point it needs to knock you over, and it didn't come close.

Ordered Colorado sea bass for two. Entree came as a whole fish on a platter with head and tail intact. No way at the table to parse it out. Had to send back to the kitchen to be filleted. Incredibly poor and impractical presentation. Taste not all that great either.

We chose the Gessner Strakhouse because it was convenient considering we were staying at the Grand Hyatt in Vail. It was a wonderful surprise! Galo, our server was amazing. He made suggestions that were out of our meat and potatoes, comfort zone, but we tried them and they were delicious. He was very attentive to our needs. We sat outside overlooking the river to complement our delicious meal. It was memorable, for sure.

The steak was not as rare as it should have been. Totally medium rare. Certainly not the best New York I've had. Service was medium to slow. Crab tator tots were a fun combination. Definitely worth trying. The green beans were excellent. The restaurant seems to have a pretty good crew in the back of house. Challenged a bit on the front. I probably would not go again and spend that money. Bummer since I'm a Globalist with Hyatt...

This would've been a good restaurant if it wasn't for the service. We had breakfast here and the food was good, as we were staying in the Grand Hyatt Vail. However, the last day the service was HORRIBLE. It took over AN HOUR to get our food order, and the amount of hostility assured us we would rather eat in the marketplace. I don't recommend.

This restaurant is located within the hotel I stayed in. We went down for breakfast and had a good meal. The service was excellent, with a very friendly and attentive staff. Everything about this restaurant and hotel is worth going back to. The breakfast was delicious with a great view!
