Food is great, atmosphere wonderful, service was super. I highly recommend Mountain Standard.
Last 2 times I've been here the quality was lacking and funny enough so was sweet basil. The crab mozzarella sticks were super fishy, ribs were ultra salty. Bill was $200 bucks for lunch 2 adults 2 kids.
Our waitress Sam was super attentive and friendly. And the food was delicious! Book early and just go.
I rate it low, because the waitress took my drink (a Negroni) away from the table before it was finished without asking me if he can take it away. Once he came back and I claim to him he told me that he did it because it was not full, which he was right, but “wrong answer”..!! He shoul have 1st. apologize, 2nd. offer another one, or 3rd. if I did not wanted another one cause we ordered wine, he should have not charged in the bill. Obviuosly he was bad “trained” on how to deal with a mistake he made like that. Apart from that, everything else very good!
We've dined at Mountain Standard many times over the years and it's usually a place we look forward to when we're in Vail. Unfortunately, our most recent visit fell short. Throughout the meal, service felt rushed, with plates being cleared while we were still eating. At the end of the evening, we were offered dessert and drinks, placed an order, and then were brought the check and told to have a great night. When we asked about our dessert, we were informed that the table was needed so our check had been closed but if we still wanted drinks and dessert (which was ice cream...) it would need to be taken to go — something that hadn't been communicated before ordering. The situation was eventually resolved, but it felt disorganized and uncomfortable. We spent over $500 on dinner and were being rushed out the entire time. We understand how busy restaurants can be, but at this price point, I'd expect a better dining experience and it felt more hurried than expected. We've had many great meals here in the past and hope this was just an off night but will probably stick to quick lunches here in the future and go elsewhere when we want a true dining experience.
If it wasn’t for the obvious snow and beautiful mountains and the creek, I would have thought I was in New Orleans. Southern hospitality and amazing food in Colorado!!! I am a fan boy!!!

Sat at the bar for dinner last night and it was the worst service I’ve ever had. We had to ask the bartender multiple times to order drinks and food and when he finally took our order he was extremely rude and acted like we were a major inconvenience. Food is great but that bartender with the ponytail was terrible

We tried the burger and the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was decent, but the burger was overcooked and had a slightly burned smell, which was a letdown. It felt like they might’ve rushed it since the place was busy. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but it could definitely be better with a bit more care on the grill.

Mountain Standard is a standout in Vail for both lunch and dinner, with service that feels genuinely welcoming, attentive, and well paced. The kitchen clearly takes pride in ingredient quality and execution. The food is fresh, deeply flavorful, and built around combinations that feel creative and intentional, not trendy for the sake of it. It is absolutely a chef driven restaurant.
I started with the octopus appetizer. The octopus itself was cooked perfectly, tender with the right bite, and the overall flavor profile was delicious. The only element that felt unnecessary to me was the black beans. They distracted from the dish rather than adding anything essential, so I removed them. Aside from that, it was excellent, and the avocado slices added a great creamy texture that worked beautifully with the octopus.
For my main, I had the burger, and it was exactly what you want from a place like this: very fresh, high quality ingredients, and meat cooked perfectly. It is the kind of burger that feels elevated without trying too hard.
Overall, Mountain Standard delivers a polished, thoughtful dining experience whether you come for lunch or dinner, with creative food, strong technique, and genuinely great service.

We had such a great experience sitting at the bar. The bartender was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain each dish to us, which made ordering so enjoyable. He checked in on us throughout the meal and made sure we had everything we needed.
The food was excellent, but what truly stood out was the atmosphere and customer service. You could tell the staff genuinely cares about the customers.
As we were leaving, the manager actually ran outside to thank us for mentioning how great the service and atmosphere was. He told us how much it meant to him, which really says a lot.
We left feeling appreciated and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our food here. It is the perfect spot for an elevated lunch. The steelhead crudo appetizer was top notch and the chicken sandwich had the perfect amount of spice.

This place was insane! The cocktails and food were incredible. Amazing experience. Our bartender/waiter Sparrow was a true homie and guided us through all the best choices. He made our night even more special.
