We are from the south and we have yet to find a good Mexican style restaurant here in ct.
The tacos are a 7/10 the tortillas are store bought. The tacos are double tortillas so
It fills you up faster. The meat is fresh. Steak, fajita, Pastor, Tripa, even the fish is grilled here. My husband likes their fish tacos, menudo and the tripa tacos are one of his favorites.
The pinto beans are fresh.
The Rice is not good at all. It tastes like plastic without seasoning. . That’s why the the 4 stars.
When we go as a family we just go for the tacos.
And their menudo. The staff speaks both English and Spanish. They welcome all but the kids need to be seated at all times. The food coming out is HOT.“

“Highly recommend this restaurant. The refried beans are made in house and the best we’ve had. The plates were authentic and transports you to Mexico. Definitely a meal we will be thinking about forever. Coco was our server and create a great atmosphere to compliment the food. You won’t be disappointed with this place!“

“My girlfriend and I were there for the first time tonight and everything was amazing. My girlfriend has multiple allergies and our waiter Eric was more than accommodating. He took his time to make sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious, my mango margarita was excellent. This place is a must visit. The food service industry needs more people like Eric. I hope he gets the chance to see this and his manager should be proud of him ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“We had been to Ixtapa before and found the food and service amazing!! So when we recently had a summer party we reached out to have them cater. We worked with Griselda, she was phenomenal! She arrive early, had 8 trays step up in minutes, gave us a full run down on how long to keep the burners running so the the food would be ready for our guest and wouldn't burn. We got so many compliments on how good the food was!! Best of all we have many delicious leftovers!“

“This place is great, I’ve been close to 10 times now and have never been disappointed! My favorites so far are the land and sea quesadilla and the quesa birria. The tres leches is delicious as well.
The bad reviews they have are quite shocking to me because this is one of the tastiest and consistent places I’ve been to. I will continue to be a happy customer here!“

“Just ordered 8 burritos from here and I am so surprised they each weigh 1.5+ lbs!!! That's insane!!! The owner, Señor Maximo, was very kind and nice and gave me some free food and free cake! I was very surprised but very grateful! I know times are tough but it's the nice gestures and acts of kindness that are appreciated! I eat here every time I pass by Waterbury and the food is always excellent and very delicious! I love small and local restaurants like this! Thank you so much for the delicious and amazing food and wonderful service!!!
I just ordered 8 burritos from here and I'm so surprised that each one weighs over 1.5 pounds! That's crazy!!! The owner, Mr. Máximo, was very kind and friendly and gave me free food and cake! I was very surprised but very grateful! I know times are tough, but what is appreciated are the nice gestures and acts of kindness! I come here every time I pass through Waterbury and the food is always great and delicious. I love small, local restaurants like this! The 6pm atmosphere on a Wednesday is perfect for family dining or a casual bite.

“Prior reviews that said this is the best Mexican food on the East Coast aren't lying. Everything has so much flavor! We got the burritos de carnitas and al pastor and both were phenomenal. “I came here last weekend for the first time, the food is amazing. All different types of authentic Mexican cuisines, the service was excellent. It was speedy even in a packed environment. I had their chicken burrito, it was delicious. Full of meat, rice, beans, etc. This small business is top notch. Not the mention the sweet elderly couple that owns it is so welcoming. “owner threatened to shoot my girlfriend and I'm a tenant here slumlord have to pull teeth to get stuff fixed around her when I moved in he never painted made me paint with a fused back screens where wriped had to pull teeth to get fixed faucet leaked had to pull teeth most worthless landlord I ever dealt with all they want is the MONEY DONT WANT TO FIX NOTHING MY WINDOWS LEAK THE WIND BLOWS IN MY APARTMENT AND RAIN WATER TOO TOLD HIM MORE THEN 5 TIMS AND STILL HASNT FIXED THE LEAKY WINDOWS“

“We had dinner for the first time at AJ steakhouse. I must say it was a wonderful experience. The staff very responsive and professional. We had ordered hamburgers and Mark made sure we were satisfied with our meal. Which was excellent. He informed us that the menu will be changing. We will definitely be back.“
