My friends and I cycle all over Stamford, New Canaan, Pound Ridge, Darien, and more …and about half the time they insist that we stop at “mother‘s” (as they call it) before we head to our respective homes. We always get rolls with egg, cheese, broccoli rabe, and bacon …and pancakes …and coffee and it’s definitely heaven.

“Great little store with everything you need. Fantastic assortment of spices, preserves, picked veggies, candy and so much more. They have daily fresh hot foods and cold salads. Anytime I buy olivye salad it’s always fresh! Delicious and you don’t have to spend all this time to cut it yourself at home. They have great variety of kielbasas and other cold deli meats. “This is a great place to eat. It was slow so I sat by the window hoping business would pick and it did. A middle-aged couple came in with a puzzled look on their face, as though they were desperate for something to do.
The menu is large and in charge but I judge each deli by one dish and one dish alone, the chicken parm wedge. Is the bread fresh, is the chicken crispy, is the sauce homemade etc.? Sometimes a spot is constrained by its ability to both deliver and keep the price down; Summer Street Deli somehow figured this out. I ordered a Pedro Special and a Chicken Parm Wedge and spent $25 with tip. Not bad. The chicken parm was crispy, the sauce was sweet and the motz was tangy. The chili was also delicious with a touch of spice but not to little which infuriates me. I like a hot chili. Like a diet Merrit Canteen chili flavor, very good though.

But over all I like this little spot with lots of dining space that is roomy but maintains a classic feel without all this pretentious so called atmosphere that doesn’t require it’s presence in a neighborhood spot such as this. Definitely worth a look but don’t take your date here unless your married, it’s not that kind of place bro ;).“

“We just had lunch at Elvira's today. The sandwiches were DELICIOUS. I had the hot dog with sauerkraut and onions, my sister had the portabella mushrooms and mozzarella sandwich, my husband had BLT and my brother-in-law had tuna salad. Crunchy onion rings and Joey's famous fries were super good. Everything was delicious. It was easy to order on line and our "server" Sam treated us like family. I am a Polish American and we try and keep some Polish traditions alive, like Wigilia. We also love fresh kielbasa and perogies year-round. Being originally from Yonkers, NY I grew up used to REAL Polish food from a REAL Polish Deli. And if you’ve only gotten your kielbasa and perogies from Stop and Shop, then you’ve never had REAL Polish perogies and kielbasa. Get them from here and you’ll know what I mean.

I do not speak polish. And I have tried may of the other Polish deli’s around. I always enter with a “dzień dobry” which is good afternoon in Polish, and 85% of my Polish vocabulary. For reasons I can not understand, once all these other delis learn you don’t speak Polish you immediately become a second class citizen, and there is no hope of getting any help or explanations on all the wonderful variety of foods available. But not at Warsaw Deli. The new owner, Jan, was incredibly helpful. He even took the time to explain a few traditions I wasn’t aware of.

Even if you aren’t Polish go here, and try something new. Just ask Jan what to try!“

“Every time we go into the deli we are greeted nicely. The egg sandwich are always great with fresh rolls. In terms of price I’m not sure why people are complaining, everywhere is dealing with inflation. Prices will never be what they were 5 years ago. Food is delicious but I do have to say that when I buy the turkey burger, which is super yummy, 1 out of 5 times it is undercooked and I have to throw it into the garbage. “I have always driven up Hope Street and gone past this deli. Well, this week I finally stopped in. I ordered a chicken cutlet (My go-to deli sandwich) on a wedge with cheese, tomatoes and ketchup and mayo. First things first: they made a QUALITY QUALITY sandwich. The cutlet has a nice crisp to it, and was not dry but juicy. The breading was not overwhelming but just right. The cheese, bacon , tomato all meshed well. Nothing was too loose or too messy. Second the customer service was great. A great atmosphere to walk into. Its always nice when you are greeted by a smile, conversation and to see that person behind the counter is actually enjoying themselves.I went back again to try out their meatball parm. On. The. Money. The meatballs are fresh and REAL. I am simple so I did not doctor this particular sandwich up much, but it was good for me and can be for you too.I recommend Ron's Deli if you want a great sandwich, great service, great prices.
