The Griswold Inn Reviews
I live in Essex and love The Griswold Inn. We are regulars and know most of the staff. My experience tonight was very different to any experience before. We arrived in the wine bar and was told by a lady that I shouldn’t have walked through to the wine bar but I had had a drink in the bar and there was no signs telling us not to ? I had brought my friends who were visiting from Maryland they ordered Dirty Martinis the same lady then told us no blue cheese olives that’s fine....read full review

The Griswold Inn offers a historic dining experience with a cozy tavern and friendly staff. The menu features fried fare like fish, shrimp, and chicken, along with pricier options like salmon. The ambiance and tavern atmosphere are enjoyable, and the traditional dining room's decor, with vaulted ceilings and illuminated prints of steamships, creates an almost other-worldly feeling. Recent visitors have enjoyed the decor, ambiance, and their lunch entrees, including the peach & goat cheese flatbread, which was excellent and plentiful. The entrees received positive reviews, and the carrot cake was tasty and unique. The staff is young but friendly, and hosts are noted as superior, contributing to a nice experience. Visitors often find the experience memorable, especially while celebrating special occasions. The Griswold Inn remains one of the best colonial-style inns, with a timeless atmosphere that makes it a welcoming spot to return to. The food is outstanding, with notable dishes like steak, Prime Rib, and a Brie app, adding to the overall charm. While service has been described as sporadic at times, the overall experience of feeling like stepping back in time is completely worth the trip.
