1st time here and wow was everything from the appetizer to the main course top notch dining.
The hideaway had always been a favorite.
Recently came back after a long absence.
Have found when sitting at the bar feel ignored, yes aware of staffing shortages.
The staff egarly serve what look to be regulars. When they arrive drink made without a discussion, food order placed, second drink...this is while we have been there 10 to 15 minutes with NO acknowledgement.
So dissappointed.

So, if happen to be in Old Lyme or the surrounding area, and you are craving New Haven style wood fired pizza— look no further than the Hideaway. Our server Jake couldn’t have been nicer. The entire staff were all gracious and accommodating.

Based on the reviews, Hideaway Restaurant & Wood Fire π₯ Pizza offers an absolutely amazing environment with awesome food, signature cocktails, and an attentive, courteous, and entertaining staff. Issues include a server unfamiliar with specials, a long wait for the check, and a bartender who was sweaty, shaky, and disoriented, leading to ignored customers. The food is generally described as good or decent, but service can be a ruenoff at the end of a meal. Overall, the restaurant is an easygoing spot with good food, but the experience depends heavily on the staff.
