Nordic Fish – Seafood and Fresh Fish Market in Fairfield, CT

Do NOT go in here if you do not appreciate the finest fish, shellfish, caviar and sushi available in Fairfield county and beyond. On the other hand, if you DO appreciate those things, you have found your culinary heaven on earth.
The selection of seafood and caviar is a chef & seafood lover’s dream. And they have all the proper accoutrements and more to make the experience complete.
The prices are reasonable for the quality and variety. I have to restrain myself from buying more than we can eat and certainly find it a place that is impossible for me to pass by without stopping in.
I justify my weekly caviar purchase by calling it health food, which it actually is. Super good for you and high in protein and omega 3s. And it is a pleasing challenge to try the many strains they offer.
The staff is awesome; knowledgeable and attentive but not overbearing.
Jardar is my Caviar Guru. He is incredibly knowledgeable and generous. He treats you as though you are the only person in the store.
I eagerly took the bait and am now happily hooked!

Fantastic staff and service. I love that they let you try everything. Their clam chowder is sooo good. Reminded me of Boston's clam chowder. You also have the option of making your own poke bowl. There are indoor seating.

The Nordic Fish team are simply the best. All the seafood is extremely fresh and expertly prepared. Jardar is always friendly and has so much knowledge. I love coming to Nordic Fish and highly recommend to anyone looking for superb seafood and a great customer service experience.

Clean, large & fresh varieties. Everything we ordered we loved, but above all the staff was outstanding! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by Jamie and thanked for coming in. Jamie goes above and beyond to make the guests feel welcomed. It was our first time coming in, his extensive knowledge on the selections and just genuine happiness to be serving the customers is rare in this day and age. I had figured he was the owner because he truly thanked every single guest for coming into the shop. Amazing employee!!!! Five stars for freshness and quality and 100 stars for hospitality & service! I found myself in this part of town after heading to another spot where I was chasing clams and oysters. They had them at the other location but they didn't serve them to you shucked and prepared so I ended up buying a couple of boxes and taking them home to prep myself. On the way back I saw Nordic fish on Google Maps and decided to pull in for a quick oyster platter.

Upon arriving at the location I noticed that there wasn't that much seating which is fine, they were empty tables available. I walked to the back and noticed that they had a large selection of different kinds of seafood which is great, everything looked fresh and it was pretty busy. Busy. I looked at the menu and was approached by a very pleasant gentleman who asked me if it was my first time, I told him yes and he's appointed someone to take care of me. I placed my order for three of every oyster and three of every clam and a pair got to work on getting my order prepared.

At the register asked if they had horseradish and cocktail sauce and mignonette sauce. All they had was cocktail sauce and I had to pay for it separately, that the first sign that I wasn't probably going to enjoy this as much as I would have hoped. I got to the table and waited for my order, a young lady came and brought my oysters, they were all lined up neatly but I had no idea which oysters and clams were which, I like when they tell you so you know exactly which ones you like and don't like and can make better decisions next time. I grabbed a Tabasco sauce that was not far away from my table and tried to widen the flavor profile of a few of them that and the lemon and cocktail sauce. But not having horseradish or mignonette really blows. Everything was fresh, all the oysters and clams were delicious but none of my clams were shucked which was kind of annoying because they were pretty big and there were a lot. The oysters were shucked, the experience overall was meh, I probably wouldn't go back

I ordered online and product was shipped to me Communication from the company about my order was great. . However, this was an expensive purchase and I was not pleased at all with the quality of the snow crab. Really disappointed. It was mushy and lacked flavor. Maybe if you are local to them it is a much better experience versus having the product shipped. I will not purchase again.
