“This is a hidden gem! We're back in Connecticut after many years and were looking for some authentic regional pizza and came upon Asylum Street Pizza. We were greeted immediately and the staff had definitive answers to our questions. We asked for a recommendation and were served with a straight-from-the-oven delicious "the works" pizza. When we're back in the area again, we will definitely stop by for another pizza. Don't miss this one!“

“They have the best pan fried pizza around the area. Owned by a great family. Your perfect family restaurant“

“I recently tried the Italian Combo at Golden Pizza Restaurant and it absolutely delivered. The sandwich was loaded with fresh deli meats, perfectly sliced cheese, crisp lettuce, and ripe tomatoes, all brought together with just the right amount of oil and seasoning. Every bite had great flavor and balance.

What really stood out was the size. This thing was huge and easily one of the most filling sandwiches I’ve had in a while. You definitely get your money’s worth.

If you’re looking for a classic, no nonsense Italian combo done right, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be coming back.“

“07.29.25 *WRITTEN REVIEW Big Al’s Reel Reviews – EP.144 📍Manny’s Pizza Plus 💎 City of Norwich, CT Sometimes, the best food isn’t just about flavor—it’s about familiarity. This review wasn’t just another stop. This was a return. Six years ago, I used to walk these streets every day. I lived right around the corner at 17 Russell Road, and when I wanted a hot meal—whether it was lunch, dinner, or just a craving—Manny’s Pizza Plus was the move. It wasn’t just close… it was comfort. So for Episode 144, I did something different. I went back to where it all started. I parked the car. Looked at my old house. And I walked… just like I used to… straight to Manny’s. And what I found? Same warmth. Same heart. And yeah… still delicious. Let’s break it down: --- 1. French Onion Soup & Turkey Sandwich Combo – $8.99 💣 This combo hit hard. The French onion soup came out rich, cheesy, and full of flavor—the kind of bowl that slows you down and makes you appreciate the moment. The turkey sandwich? Toasted rye bread, stacked with turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and honey Dijon mustard. That combo was excellent. A perfect pairing that brought everything full circle. --- 2. Fried Shrimp Lunch Plate – $13.50💣 Six crispy shrimp, fried just right—crunchy outside, soft and juicy inside. Real good. So good, I ate the tails. No lie. The French fries were on point—crispy, golden, hot. Coleslaw wasn’t bad, but not for me. Just a side that didn’t hit the same. --- 3. Small Cheese Pizza – $6.99 💣 That classic Greek-style pizza that Manny’s is known for—soft, sweet sauce, cheese that melts beautifully, and a crust that’s golden on the outside and soft on the inside. This was exactly what I remembered. Comfort food at its finest. --- The Atmosphere & Service This was a true B.A.R.R. Gem Spot—not because it’s fancy or flashy, but because it matters to me. The vibe inside is casual, easy, and welcoming. And the service? Absolutely wonderful. My server was Christina, who just so happens to be Manny’s daughter. She took great care of me—friendly, attentive, and full of pride for her family’s place. --- Final Thoughts: Sometimes the past calls you back—not for closure, but for connection. And this trip to Manny’s reminded me why I do what I do. It’s not just about new flavors… it’s about honoring the places that helped shape who we are. And when it comes to taco pizza—I’ll say this loud and clear: Manny’s makes the VERY BEST taco pizza I’ve ever had. Still my go-to whenever that craving hits. So if you’re in Norwich and want a spot that’s real, consistent, and full of heart—pull up to Manny’s Pizza Plus. Make sure you tell 'em Big Al sent you. And if you see that house on Russell Road? Give it a wave for me. ’See you on the Rebound, Peace✌🏾out ☝🏾❤️ – Big Al Mayo“

“First time trying Longo’s in Plainfield, and I was really happy with the experience. I got pizza and wings delivered, and everything arrived fresh, hot, and tasting great. The pizza had good flavor, and the wings were a solid choice too. Definitely a great local spot, and I’ll be ordering from here again.“

“Always good food , kids enjoy the grinders , fish and fries , chicken tenders“

“A personal note expressing our gratitude to Irene's staff. My husband Phil's 80th birthday a huge success! I had ordered tons of food, all arrived on time and was piping hot and ready to serve. Each prepared dish was delicious! We received so many compliments on the food, with many asking for name of catering restaurant. You folks are the best! Many thanks! The Murtha's“

“WE LOVE THEIR PIZZA!!!! BEST SAUCE, BEST CRUST, BEST EVERYTHING!!!!! “

“Best Mexican food I have ever had. Me and My boyfriend went there for his birthday and the food was amazing and the portions were great. The steak torta was the best I have ever had. Will definitely make this our new date night spot. Thanks again.“

“Best restaurant to occupy this spot in years. Great service and food. Highly recommend the penne alla vodka!“

“Highly recommended! Food is always amazing! Been going here for a few years.. owner is pleasant, helpful and interacts with his customers. Ordered 4 pizzas and 3 large grinders and not only were they delicious but the owner also brought everything to our vehicle for us! Top notch service!!“

“Delicious brick oven pizza, crispy crust, fresh toppings, great service! Love the environment, all of their menu is great.“

“Food is great and have ordered many times but their delivery driver driving blue Honda civic has almost rear ended me twice…. Once about a month ago after I just picked food up from them almost hit me in my Honda and again today I hate to have to leave this review but is really unsafe and has been inch from hitting me twice…“

“Love this place, regular date night spot. The food is great, only gave 4 stars because sometimes the random Mexican dishes on their specials are a little under seasoned. Everything else is excellent. Atmosphere is a bit loud on the restaurant side, but the bar side is cozy. Great place to bring the family, especially for pizza“

“Best restaurant in town. Great food, awesome staff, been going here for years and they even catered my wedding. Love Gus’s Pub! P.S. - My daughter has worked here for years and the owners treat their employees very well! As for the person who posted a review below…the check/money were found in a dishwasher bucket, they got swiped up by accident. (But regardless, it never would’ve taken it out of her paycheck, even if it had been stolen.) The customer deleted their post after Gus’s reached out. Sad to see this place being slandered based on a misunderstanding.“

“Just ate here for the first time today. Excellent pizza. Even got $10 off for joining their rewards program. Definitely recommend 👍“

“We LOVE you guys! We've recently received two large deliveries (we're freezing some of the food) and the drivers have been so nice. Great food, great service, proud to support a local business. Keep up the wonderful work and stay safe during this trying time! <3“

“Great environment… Recommend 1000%“

“Tried Voc's for the first time tonight and it was great! Ordered a grilled chicken grinder and pepperoni pizza, both awesome. Quick time for pick up, friendly staff when I went in and delicious food. Be back soon! Thank you.“

“Best pizza around!!!! They greet you with a smile not to mention the girls up front are super sweet!!! There new specials are pretty great too!!! They will even make you a special dish if you ask!!! I go there more times then I’m proud of but they never disappoint!!! It’s pretty clean in there as well !!! I would give them more stars if I could!!!!“

“Engine No.6 Pizza Company where do I start! Not only is the pizza addicting but you guys go above and beyond for your customers! Some restaurants you can tell just want to take your money and are annoyed at small request made by customers but Engine 6 is not like this you guys come through for me on more than one occasion and I’m forever grateful. Thank You for being amazing!!“

“Everything about them is AMAZING!…..We’re proud that they’re all called extended family!…l THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR ALL YOU DO!“

“Great value for a quick, cheap lunch , Detroit slices n sticks with a soda is under $10 can't beat in a hurry, when the budget is tight, fast friendly service, cooked perfect, tons of rewards and coupons online too , beats a BK or McDonald's meal price ANY day , also wayyy better than Domino's“

“My friend and i ate here after doing some shopping at foxwoods and we had nothing to complain about! our server Liv was perfect, she made sure everything was good, was very apologetic when they were out of something, and made conversation with us when we were the last table in the restaurant. Will definitely stop by again if i’m in the area!“

“This is our favorite pizza spot. We drove over an hour to get there for our daughters birthday dinner (their pick) and had the best dinner! (Pizza, spaghetti, fish & chips) Food was cooked perfectly. They even gave both girls a birthday present before we left (a drink and sunglasses) it absolutely made their night! The service was fast friendly and attentive.“

“Great food and service!“

“I like everything I have ever ordered from there except the pizza. it's dry, the toppings and cheese separate from the sauce so it's a congealed cheese hunk with dry toppings stuck in it. the crust is too brown and there's no flavor. just bland, tasteless, dry, awful pizza. I've had the taco pizza lol what a joke that was and steak with sausage, dry and a waste of my money. their onion rings are very good, they used to be more fried and less crumbly coating. generosity has dwindled, too. cheeseburger grinder w bacon is good but I don't appreciate the warm lettuce, they don't take modifications or whatever you call that on doordash site ordering occum pizza. owner boy is clueless. I'll still order from here. Moore pizza I just heard is on doordash now :D I order extra sauces because I know some stuff is going to be dry or flavorless but I DON'T GET THEM!! they put ketchup packets on top of the onion rings GROSS so they don't have to give those rings... they piss me off but I'll still order.“

“its dominos, you go here if you want pizza late. dont be unreasonable and expect s five star gourmet authentic Italian pizza. check yourself and look at the prices. That being said, usually cooked well and made as requested, no complaints. slightly above mid.“

“We had a large group today (25 people kids/adults), they were SO accommodating! The service was amazing, and Vincenzo was helpful setting everything up and checking in on us multiple times. We will 100% go back!“

“Ordered a New England pizza and Buffalo wings earlier. Great food and speedy delivery!“

“Great food!! Worth a visit“

“Most important thing - it opens early and is in the lobby so easy to find!
Coffee comes strong and a tall coffee is exactly that! They also ensure you do not burn your hands. Is often a very cheerful lady (with a great taste in Puerto Rican music) there whose politeness and level of service is extraordinary“

“I had a large dinner party there last night and the food was great and the head waitress and wait staff did an amazing job. It was a wonderful time 😊“

“I have ordered online for delivery twice in the past two months. my orders were accurate, on time and my driver's were friendly. I also received a surprise free item on this most recent order, so the commercials are real! For inexpensive food, they hit all the marks 👍🏻“
