Husband and I decided to try this place after friends raved about it, but we were surprised to find it half empty at 7:30 on a Friday.

Our main issue was the price—significantly higher than nearby options—without the food to match. We ordered a charcuterie board and were served just a few slices of cheese and meat for $24. When we mentioned we expected more, the server agreed.

I had the Fat Duck burger, which was fine—slightly greasy—but definitely not worth $28. The service also felt a bit slow, especially for a restaurant that wasn’t busy.

Overall, it felt overpriced for what you get, and with other nearby restaurants offering better food and value, we likely won’t be returning.

Good food and friendly service. I thought it was pretty expensive for our late lunch but it was a good experience.

Trash. 3 hours to complete a meal and we still took our dessert to go. Won't go back.

What a great restaurant! I went for valentines dinner…. 4 course for $75.
What a deal and such good food.
The service was excellent, but a little slow.
It’s worth it…. Beautiful inside…
My girlfriend is super picky and said it was the best meal she ever had!
That’s a compliment!

Came here for the first time yesterday with my husband for dinner. We both got the half roasted chicken and it was delicious! So were all the sides it came with. I especially liked how clearly their gluten free and vegan items are. They have a kids menu so I’ll have to bring them next time.

Nice place, we stopped for lunch and had a very pleasant experience.
Service friendly and helpful.
Food was well presented and full of flavor.
The place is renovated and looks sharp.
Menu is just big enough that you don't need 15min to read it.
Will Be Back.

From the moment you walk in, you are struck by the design: stylish, modern, warm, and incredibly comfortable. One of those rare places where aesthetics and atmosphere feel effortless yet intentional.

And then comes the food — absolutely mind-blowing.

I started with a lobster bisque that was rich, velvety, and deeply flavorful. We shared a flatbread with arugula, brie, and figs — perfectly balanced, delicate, and bold at the same time. My husband ordered the burger with foie gras (yes, foie gras!) — indulgent, perfectly executed, and unforgettable. And because we couldn’t resist, we took a brisket Reuben to go… which may not have made it home.

Every dish felt thoughtful, creative, and expertly prepared. This is not just a meal — it’s an experience.

If you appreciate beautiful design, comfort, and truly exceptional cuisine, this place is a must. I honestly cannot believe I hadn’t been here before.

Bravo, Fat Duck Tavern. We will absolutely be back.

We dined here the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend for the first time. As a long-time Madison resident, I would put this restaurant at the top of the list in terms of quality of food.

What separates a good dining experience from a great one? Details. In that respect, Fat Duck Tavern crossed every T:

- shaving the pickles on the burger to be thinner than typical, but flavorful, and toasting the bun
- serving the wings with a unique dill-based homemade ranch sauce
- adding a rich, flavorful hoisin-based sauce to the pork belly banh mi that took it to the next level

The andouille and goat cheese dip was also to die for.

Even if the food wasn’t great, we’d come back in a heartbeat for Jack’s service. He was knowledgeable, informative, and friendly. 10/10.

My only suggestion would be to double fry the wings to give them a crispy crunch to complement their stunning depth of flavor.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by my dining experience here and I look forward to my return!

Moody and elegant inside! The drink menu and the dinner options ALL looked so good- I wanted to try everything. They had a great wine selection and kept with the theme with lots of beers with duck names. We had the clam chowder which was hearty and delicious. Following that we had the Pork Bon Mi sandwich that was spot on! Such awesome flavor and fresh bread. We got it with the side salad which felt appropriate for fall with apricots and goat cheese and a light tasty dressing. We will be back here soon!

If I coud put 0 stars I would. We had reservations, got seated and waited 15 minutes before walking out since no one came to the table. It wasn't busy and multiple servers walked by us as we were in the middle of the restaurant. There was a couple who got seated after us, got sparkling water and drinks, and the server was taking their order. Horrible experience, will never go back.
