“We booked this caterer a full year in advance for both our catering and wedding planning. Just three days before our wedding, they canceled both services. We were told they had three weddings booked that weekend, and it seemed they had taken on more than they could handle. They also used our final payment as a reason for canceling, even though they had previously agreed to let us make the payment two days after the contract date. They canceled at 9:01 that morning before we even had the opportunity to contact our bank to increase our transaction limit and make the payment. Being left without both a caterer and wedding planner just three days before our wedding was incredibly stressful and disappointing. Thankfully, we found another caterer who stepped up for us at the last minute. To make matters worse, after canceling on us three days before our wedding, they refused to return our deposit. When I contacted the owner directly, I was shocked by his attitude. Rather than showing any remorse or concern for leaving us without a caterer just three days before our wedding, he came across as smug and dismissive. He even said, “I hope I didn’t ruin your day.” The way he said it made me feel as though he was actually hoping our wedding had been ruined. It was an incredibly insensitive response from someone we had trusted with one of the most important days of our lives. When you book a company a year in advance for one of the most important days of your life, you expect professionalism, reliability, and someone you can trust. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I would never want another couple to experience the stress, disappointment, and uncertainty we went through just days before their wedding. No couple deserves to be put in that position, especially after trusting a company with such an important event. Based on our experience, I would highly recommend staying away from this company. There are plenty of other caterers who will value your business, honor their commitments, and treat your wedding day with the importance it deserves.“

“Congress Rotisserie is A-1! I first was introduced to it about 7 years ago at my place of employment in East Hartford when some of us decided to "eat in" and order food to be delivered. I have had their egg salad sandwiches, their turkey and stuffing sandwiches around Thanksgiving, and a bunch more. When a family member passed away, I brought about 20 sandwiches from Congress to help out my relatives. The food is excellent. There is a great variety and I couldn't recommend it more highly. There is a service charge for delivery and we usually tip as well, although, in the case of the time when I ordered to bring something for after the Memorial Service, I went and picked it up myself. They have excellent cookies and a variety of salads and the menu describes very well what is in the sandwich that is being ordered. I wrote this in response to the person who gave this one star. I think that person had to be rating the wrong place. My thumb goes up for Congress and when they ask me at work - "Would you want to have Congress today?", my whole hand goes up. This is not an eat in place, but a catering establishment. The food is all "to go" and ordered ahead of time or ordered to be delivered. Glad they are located in East Hartford, but I know they deliver in the greater Hartford area, not just East Hartford.“

“Having my wedding at Merlot on the Water was an absolute dream! Victoria was very informative, available to communicate, and super helpful from the very beginning. She and her amazing, friendly staff also helped our day move along seamlessly and checked in on us throughout to make sure we had what we needed. In addition, this venue has a lot else to offer, including beautiful outdoor views for the ceremony/pictures, the capability of accommodating an indoor ceremony if needed, and just an overall aesthetic charm. This is a really great venue if you're looking for a place that includes food, bar services, and cake as well for a reasonable price. It can be difficult to find more intimate places that include so much (our guest count was around 90), but Merlot was absolutely perfect.“

“Great ice-cream and friendly staff. I was here for their free cone day to benefit MS. There was a very long line but some of the staff was outside offering samples so it was kind of fun. Everyone was in a good mood and chatting. Staff passed out lists of flavor offerings so people could get in and out quickly. The line did move steadily. There was also a fabulous face painter there for the kids and a musician performing outside. We'll done!“
