Great sandwiches, baked goods, and very friendly staff.
I visited twice all the way from Willimantic. Had the opportunity to meet the owners. Great service, great food. It is the type of Hispanic bakery and food place I love about Orlando FL Deltona, Kissimmee etc. Prices, well it comes with the quality. Mallorcas, what my wife loves, a lot closer than the moon. Going tomorrow to get more.

Panaderia Don Cola'o is a Hispanic bakery and food place in downtown Meriden. This family-owned business invested time, effort, and resources into creating something special in the community. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is great. The bakery offers a wide variety of foods, including pastries, baked goods, breads, sandwiches, drinks, and coffee. The food is authentic Puerto Rican cooking. The Cubano sandwiches are loved, and the sandwiches are huge—two people could eat from one sandwich. The bread is so soft. The pan de agua, pan sobao, and Mallorca are all excellent. Mallorca is a sweeter bread. The mayorcas and all the iterations are incredible. The sorullitos de maíz are corn fritters filled with creamy cheese. The matcha drink with guava is amazing, and the latte is a regular stop. Anything with guava is a favorite. The coffee is delicious. There is a drive-thru, and the place has a modern bakery style compared to any other Puerto Rican bakeries. It is very busy. The space was a former bank that was a bit of an eye-sore, and something meaningful was done with it. Prices come with the quality. It is a must.
