VivaZ Cantina/ Viva Zapata Reviews
Had a great dinner with my Son last night. Beef and chicken burritos were great, very authentic ingredients. Service was outstanding. Arriving close to opening was a plus, as this establishment does get busy. Highly recommend this cozy, relaxed restaurant.
Excellent food! Excellent service!
Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican cuisine! The fish tacos are divine, the Sopa de Tortilla has a deep smokey flavor that warms you up. The cocktail list is extensive- we had the Hibiscus Martini and the Passion Fruit Mojito- both highly recommend! Definitely will be back!!!

VivaZ Cantina in New Haven offers an authentic Mexican dining experience with delicious food and accommodating staff. The margaritas made with fresh lime juice are a hit, and the churros make for a great dessert. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere with music and fun decorations. The menu has a variety of choices, including vegetarian options. The owners have revitalized this staple restaurant, keeping the same great taste and ambience. Whether you're a long-time fan or a first-time visitor, VivaZ Cantina is a must-visit spot for a fantastic meal and a good time in New Haven.
Customers praise the food, especially the chips and guacamole, Quesabirria, and fajitas. The chips are made in-house and are excellent, and the margaritas are well-liked. The staff is attentive and friendly, with waitresses making guests feel welcome. Service is quick, and the atmosphere is lively with music and decorations. Many visitors enjoy the lively environment and the tasty food, returning repeatedly for a satisfying experience.
However, some reviews mention that portions tend to be on the smaller side and that the mole is just okay. One reviewer noted that the service was adequate but not extraordinary, and expressed displeasure about the automatic 20% gratuity added to checks, which is disclosed in very fine print. This policy was seen as inappropriate by some customers, especially when dining with a small group.
Overall, VivaZ Cantina remains a popular spot, especially for its chips and guacamole, Quesabirria, fajitas, and margaritas. The staff, including friendly waitresses like Arianna, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. The lively environment, good food, and fun decorations make it a favorite for many in New Haven.
