We have eaten here numerous times in past 10 + years. It is right on the water with a marina in front. You sit outside on a deck and upstairs has a roof and plastic roll down windows if weather is bad. Menu is fried seafood and as in a typical clam shack you order at a window and get a number which is shouted out from kitchen area so you need to pay attention. You pick it up inside and basically serve yourself so I don't know how people complain about the service. Prices are average to a bit below average for seafood. I feel there portion size has been a touch smaller this year than previous years. The batter was a bit overdone or the oil was old on this last visit so I downgraded from a 5 to 4. It is BYOB and they do have corkscrews to borrow if you forget one. Overall a good meal for the money.

We used to go here several times a summer but only once in the beginning of June sadly it was run by teenagers that didn’t have a clue as to what was going on. It took forever for our food and they weren’t even that busy it was a 7 on a Saturday. The quality and portions were not like they used to be. Sad. If you go up in the prices keep the portion sizes to screw us both ways ugh ?

No where on the website does it say that it is BYOB and that you order at a takeout counter and then walk to the deck to find a table to eat it at. It is dirty, tables look like they hadn’t been washed all day. It certainly wasn’t cheap - and we waited over one hour for food that was in no way worth the money or the wait. $24 for lobster on a hamburger roll, stuffed clams that were burned, hard as a rock and inedible and steamers that were ice cold, stuck to their shells and served with no broth or butter. A huge disappointment in an otherwise wonderful vacation town.

Wonderful spot with beautiful view. Unfortunately, the food was awful & on the expensive side. We ordered fish & chips, a lobster roll, steamers, chowder, fritters & stuffed clams. Everything tasted like it was fried in old oil & was over cooked. Chowder was definitely from a can. Fritters had little to no clams. Lobster roll was underwhelming. Stuffed clams were just okay. This was our first visit & we were so disappointed.

Dinner was awful. We've enjoyed eating at Abbott's in the past when visiting Mystic, so we thought we'd try its "sister" restaurant. We got there just before closing. The place had emptied out but we still waited 20 minutes for our cold, burnt, greasy fried food. We ordered full belly clams, but got leftover burnt clam strips. The clam chowder was cold. The fish tacos were soggy. Dinner was $90 for 3 adults and 1 child with no dessert and no beverages. We don't eat at McDonald's but at least you get what you pay for there. The fish filet sandwiches would have been tastier and cheaper.

Right by the docks of Noank, passed Abbot Lobster. Loved the steamed clams, whole belly clams and even the chicken fingers were very well done. Staff there were extremely nice. Price of food is cheaper than most places around there and great quality food plus view. There's no indoor dining so if it's cold, its cold... We went back there after tried the Cove Fresh Fish Market & Clam Shack, which was over priced, ok food and ok location.2021-07: A pleasure to revisit2023-08: Food is still decent but what service am I tipping for again? Fried clam belly and clam strips not as good when batter is too heavy... still a nice location.

We’ve eaten at Costello’s before and really looked forward to returning. Things have gone downhill. First, I was greeted by a gross men’s room with a broken toilet seat covering the toilet and my wife reported the women’s room was a mess. You order at a window and ordered our favorite NE clam chowder and that was good. The rest of the order was a lobster roll that was not buttery and sweet as last time and my fried clam stripes and fries were delivered stone cold. I brought them back to and they just threw it out and sent over another order. It was served hot but batter was undercooked and my stomach was nauseous for several hours. If you’re sitting on the upper deck, you also can’t heat your order number, adding too confusion. There is no real service: order/Pick up your order/bus your own table. For $60+ avoid!

Dinner was great with good atmosphere, but they attempt to cram their ice cream (regardless of scoop number) into lids barely fit to hold one scoop. See photos for before and after reference. Costello’s: Please upgrade your cups!

Maybe I'm getting picky, I don't know. But it was really sad for me to be going back to a place that I know to have good whole belly clam's only to be disappointed because they forgot how tartar sauce is made. I moved away from the shoreline a few years ago. I went to Costello's today to find the same nice atmosphere, the same good service, and the same nice, golden, whole belly clams. Yet, when I dip into the tartar sauce, I am totally taken aback: Whoa - either they are trying to make tartar sauce into something that it isn't, or somebody really messed up. Wow - if you want to make a new sauce for whole belly clams, please call it something other than tartar sauce if it is not in fact tartar sauce. Not hard - some sweet relish, some mayo, and maybe add a little vinegar, but that is not what they were serving today...

Was recommended to try here by a gentleman who has lived in the area for 54 years, and it did not disappoint! Drive down carefully - the roads are narrow - then free parking right at the water. Line was not bad. Prices were very reasonable and all food FRESH. Portions were great too. There's a bit of a wait but that's to be expected, it's busy but fast-paced during rushes, so enjoy the seating and the boats going to and fro. Listen for your number to be called! Staff are helpful. We had a substitution (onion rings for chips, went back to window) and when pointed out they corrected right away.We had the clam strips, popcorn shrimp, and the hot lobster roll - all delicious. Fries, onion rings, soda, iced tea. Would go again! (Only strips and shrimp in pic.)Parking: Narrow roads to get to parking. Have patience, it's worth it!

Been here a couple of times before, and everything was good. Had an experience yesterday that motivated me to write my first google review. Went there for lunch on a beautiful day, and it was not very busy. Ordered food right away, and it took over 30 minutes to get to come out, including items from the raw bar. The fried food was cold, and the raw items were warm. We didn't return it because we've had issues returning food before. For the prices they charge, they definitely need someone quality checking the food coming out, especially with the young seasonal staff I saw working the kitchen by themselves.

Dissatisfied with the food. Ordered the CCC dinner meal. I choose clam strips, fried scallops, and coconut shrimp. Meal came with French fries & coleslaw. For $26 not worth it!! Waited an hour and 15 minutes for my food. Food was served to me cold & did not taste good. Was not going to wait to have another Oder made as i waited long enough. Other than that, the atmosphere was gorgeous & staff was friendly.

We go multiple times a year, and we are never disappointed ! It's a beautiful place to grab some lobster and seafood, or burger and fries, even chicken tacos! Kids can look into the channel of water circling Costellos and find a variety of sealife. Admire the ships docked and sailing by. There's cute lil birds and huge seagulls. This place is super laid back with picnic table seating or patio table and chairs. Bring a cooler with your own adult beverages if soda or water isn't what you'd like to chase your lobster with.
