“Every time I visit this place, I feel genuinely valued as a customer. Even though the owner often runs the show solo-cooking, taking orders, and working the register, he does it all with passion and a welcoming attitude that instantly stands out.
The food? Always fresh, always delicious. It’s become my go-to spot. You can tell this isn’t just a business to him—it’s something he truly cares about, and it shows in every detail.
I’ve personally witnessed his generosity toward other customers, which speaks volumes about the kind of place this is. It’s more than just a restaurant, it’s a hidden gem with heart.

“We had been to Ixtapa before and found the food and service amazing!! So when we recently had a summer party we reached out to have them cater. We worked with Griselda, she was phenomenal! She arrive early, had 8 trays step up in minutes, gave us a full run down on how long to keep the burners running so the the food would be ready for our guest and wouldn't burn. We got so many compliments on how good the food was!! Best of all we have many delicious leftovers!“

“Prior reviews that said this is the best Mexican food on the East Coast aren't lying. Everything has so much flavor! We got the burritos de carnitas and al pastor and both were phenomenal. As were the homemade chips and salsa. And the guy at the counter was very kind. Definitely coming back here next time we're in the area!“

“It's a been a few years since I last visited, but I still think about this place from time to time. Whenever I'd visit my friend in New Haven, we'd always come here to feast on tacos and other offerings like tortas. The tacos are great value: $8 for 4 tacos for most of the selections. Best of all, they have my favorite variety of taco: tacos de lengua. Granted that the tacos de lengua come at a bit of a premium compared to the other varieties, but I'm more than willing to pay the extra $2. The taco fillings were generous and the chips + pico de gallo + salsa verde that came with each order was fresh. I wish they also gave radishes with the taco orders, but that's a minor thing. Next time I'm in New Haven, I'd be sure to come back here to have those tacos again.“

“We loved this place when it first opened, but it seems like it’s under new ownership. It’s not necessarily “bad” now, but they have removed a lot of the aspects that gave it its charm (eg. visible guac bar, frequent mariachi band is now only Friday nights). Service is hit or miss but the food usually comes fast. It’s great that they seat you with chips and two dips to choose from. The food is good.
Beware if you have small children, I was informed that *none* of the high chairs in the building have working lap belts. If you have a rambunctious boy like we do, that makes enjoying the meal challenging. It’s too bad that this gem seems to be going downhill.“

“The menu here is vast. As you walk in you will see an entire wall with every dish imaginable. The chef is always happy to make accommodations or adjust any dish to your liking. The food is fresh and made with high quality ingredients. The prices are very reasonable for such high quality food.“

“we stopped there gif dinner great restaurant fantastic staff , we were greeted with a big smile and welcomed. after being seated we got instant service, friendly wzit staff. ordered our meals with custom request , no isdued hlsf to accommodate our diet restrictions , fast service large portions great atmosphere. enjoyable cultured music playing , highly recommend the restaurant we will be returning soon Aaaa++++ rating“

The pineapple and coconut frosting perfectly creamy, and the texture was spot-on. It was a hit with everyone and made the celebration even more special! absolutely unforgettable!“
