Spotted Horse Tavern Shelton, Ct.

Came in for lunch with 10 kids under 10yo and the staff could not have been more accommodating and patient with us. The place was packed when we sat for our reservation and they didn’t miss a beat. We tried multiple dishes and all were delicious. Can’t recommend enough for any occasion!

This used to be a nice spot to grab drinks when in town, but I had a disappointing experience last night. Getting in was unnecessarily difficult, with rude bouncers and an unexpected $20 cover fee plus $3 tax. We were then kicked out only 30 minutes after entering, with no warning that the bar was closing soon and no reduced cover for arriving so late. I’ve never been charged tax on a cover fee or paid such a high price for a local bar, especially for such a short visit.

I love the food and the service in this place. Definitely will be my favorite spot.

My wife and I ordered dinner from Spotted Horse the other day via Uber Eats. Three of the four dishes were fine (the pasta I ordered was actually quite good), but the fourth item was the problem. That item - the roasted cauliflower - had numerous black spots, and while we couldn’t tell if it was mold or oxidation, we threw out the food regardless, of course. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, who seemed concerned and nice but also very inexperienced. We will not be ordering from the Spotted Horse in Shelton again. Instead we’ll stick with the Spotted Horse in Westport or any other restaurant at which we don’t have to worry about food safety.

Stop by with the girls for appetizers and drinks. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had happy hour with half-price appetizers and Cocktails. We ordered the special Pizzette, the cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and sweet and salty chips. Everything was delicious! I had a thin mint martini that was out of this world for dessert and my daughter had the s'more martini and that was awesome too!

I love this place so much.. come nearly weekly for happy hour. I’m annoyed they’re charging fuzzy baby ducks a a double ipa thought because it’s NOT a double. That’s just robbery. Do better. Still 4 stars overall because I do love them.

Came to the spotted horse with my girlfriend and had an excellent experience. Our waiter Nathan was very attentive and helpful. The place was clean and food was great. Would definitely come back.

Stopped in as I was in the area for a work trip. Sat at the bar, service was prompt and the bartenders were friendly. Ordered the chicken caprese sandwich with sweet potato fries along with a few beverages of choice. The food was good along with the drinks. I would go back if I was in the area again.
